15 years later.

"Happy Birthday Mummy!"

I was awoken by my three children jumping on my bed, shouting and giggling and waving homemade cards in my face.

I look over to the other side of the bed and see that my husband wasn't there.

I think of how wonderful it was that we'd been together all this time, all the way back from when we were such young teenagers.

"Ok, ok, who's going first huh?" I ask my beautiful children.

"Me mummy, open mine first!" Noah thrusts his card into my face,

"Woah there bud!" Noah was the youngest and his card had a purle cat with green legs on it.

I smiled and knew I'd keep it forever.

It didn't have any words, but when I opened it it had a picture of what seemed to be blue lips, and the next thing I know, Noah's jumping up and kissing me right between the eyes!

I laughed and hugged him tightly!

Peter was next to give me his card, it had a picture of me and him hugging on the front and inside it read,

Mummy, i love you lots and lots and lots, like a fat kid loves food and cake and stuff xxxxx

I laughed out loud and hug him also.

And then my beautiful 10 year old daughter gave me her card that had a monkey on it, but before I could finish reading it, my husband walked in with breakfast on a tray and a massive bouquet of sunflowers ... my favourite.

I smiled at him, and reminded myself just how lucky I was to have him i my life.

He came and sat beside me on the bed and gave me a firm, but loving kiss.

"I got you a present." He smiled at me and pulled out a white box with a blue ribbon tied around it.

I opened it to find the necklace he'd given me all those years ago, "I fixed it for you! And I got a special engraving on the back of it! Flip it."

I flipped it over and read the message on the back of the silver and gold heart,

To my beautiful wife,

Always and Forever,

Josh

And I knew, after al these years, I'd made the right choice.
