"Katie, Hurry up we are going to be late for the carnival!" Darcey yelled as I was just slipping into the cutest dress I owned. "Coming," I yelled back.
This was the first public thing I have done since summer had started a week ago, and I had to admit I looked amazing and felt pretty good about tonight. I quickly put mascara, lip gloss, and a little foundation on and hurried out the door.
"This will be so much fun sweetie!" Darcey smiled as I jumped into the car.
I rolled my eyes, "I am 18, you don't have to hang out with me all night." I was secretly hoping that she actually wouldn't hang out with me.
She laughed, " Your right, my little niece is growing up."
I nodded with a big smile across my face. We were just arriving and I got a little worried about coming pretty much alone but was almost instantly interrupted with my thoughts by my aunt. She was ranting on about something to do with how she never went out, and wanted to meet someone tonight. She knew she only had half of my attention so just shut up. We separated soon after we got there.
I went straight to the games. I was a pro at skee ball, I know it's dorky. I grinned when I got my hands on the big tiger. I was about to beat my high score when the beautiful mystery boy I tended to run into came to play up beside me.
It was starting to scare me how often I see him around but I kept me thinking about him. I actually thought about his blue eyes and how they make time just stop. I almost laughed at myself, you're pathetic Katie.
I could feel goosebumps creeping up my arms. I had actually built up the guts and looked him straight in the eyes with a smile, his blond hair was pushed in ever direction. It was cute. "Hello, I think I saw you the other day, unless I'm mistaken." He said with a crooked smile. "I don't know how I could be though, I remember that smile."
I blushed, "You're not. That clumsy girl was me." I rolled another ball into the holes.
I saw him smile out of the corner of my eyes. "Can I get the name of this clumsy girl? Or do you go by donald duck?" He laughed.
I rolled my eyes and smiled, "Katie."
"Katie." He repeated, holding on of the balls in his hand. "Well I am Niall." I nodded, that was an unual name. And I liked it. "So Katie, are you here alone... or?" He asked.
"I am clumsy and a loser." I laughed. "Yeah, I came alone."
"Well I am no expert but how much fun can a carnival be if you are alone?" He asked me, raising one of his eyebrows.
I smiled, "Well I think you would know, no date I see." I said glancing at him from the corner of my eyes.
He chuckled. "That is true, and that is also why I know we need to do something together."
I laughed, "Alright, what do you suggest we do?" I asked holding the last ball in my hands.
"We could rent a paddle boat, or conoe." He offered.
I nodded, "Sounds like a plan." I smirked and rolled the last ball up and won some cotten candy.
I threw Niall the bag of sweet fluffy stuff, "You can have my winnings. I don't like cotton candy." He caught it and ripped open the bag. I shook my head and we walked to the docks just down the hill.
He paid and decided on an orange conoe. "Hope you know how to do this. Because I sure don't." He said while jumping onto our floating transportation.
I jumped in after him and laughed, "I don't either. We're screwed." He laughed and started paddeling.
"You know, your the guy. I am not supposed to be doing anything." I said as I stopped paddeling. He noticed and turned around.
