Hi I am Katie. I lived the United States, in a small town called Blessing Washington. I am one of the few girls there that had ever been two states over. In other words, people there stayed put and they were happy that way. I have light brown hair, brown eyes, and I am pretty short.
Your average dork.
Things were going as good as a dork's life could be. I mean I fit the bill as the not so popular girl. But it all changed in the middle off the last quarter, ever, of high school. Perfect right? I guess its my fault, I did choose to move across the world when Amanda and Reece, my parents, got a divorce. Every kids night mare? Not for me.
The nightmare was when they were together. They fought more and more every day. I knew that the divorce was coming soon, I actually had prepared myself for it. I still hoped that everything would get better and it would never even come up. But who was I kidding? Things were getting worse and I really just wanted them to split so I could at least be around them.
Selfish. I know.
So of course it ended up happening. I was a little shook up about it but over all perfectly fine with the thought of them being apart for the first time in 20 years.
I was fine with it till the day actually came.
I couldn't even imagine choosing between them so I went to my only other option, my Aunt Darcey that lived all the way in Ireland. She was a cool aunt, she expected just as much as my parents did.
My mother begged me to live with her in the house I used to call home. But it's hardly a home anymore if it was just my mother and I.
My dad did the same, he moved across town into a smaller house, again I could never call it home. I already knew it wouldn't work and being eighteen they unwillingly had Darcey as an option as well.
You would never guess what I chose. Hint hint, sarcasm.
So off to Darcey's I went. She gave me two days before I needed to go for my first day of school here. Unfortunately those two days didn't last long enough and I am now on my way to the large high school, my high school.
"Here we go." I said as I was getting out of the car.
"Have a good day sweetie!" Darcey called after me. I didn't look back and shut the door behind me.
I walked up some huge steps and I opened the doors. "Can't get any better than a giant high school." I mumbled sarcastically. Blessing Washington was very small.
I had more pride walking in than I had thought I was. I am a senior, I was supposed to be ruling the halls.
I went to my first class and sat in the back. The teacher had to introduce me to the class, like I expected. "Hello class, we have got a new student today." The teacher smiled. I just looked away hoping she would let it go.
She looked at some papers and back to me, puzzled. "Kaitlyn Benson? Kaitlyn come up here please." I groaned and walked to the front.
"Uh, hello."
"Class, this is Kaitlyn," she turned to me "Why don't you say a few things about yourself." My hands balled up, I dug my nails into my palms, is this first grade?
"Hi, I go by Katie?" I panicked. The class laughed, and a few whistled.
"You can sit down now Katie." The teacher said apologetically. I rushed to my desk and put my head down.
I zoned out the rest of the day. Like always, every teacher had to introduce me, I started remembering a few faces and teachers names. I started walking down the halls to my freedom. When I passed the lunchroom I saw a kid getting thrown into the trash.
