The sound of her phone alarm was enough to annoy Hyejin in the morning. She woke up, but something was off. Her environment felt different, and she looked around, and realised where she was. She looked down from the bed to the floor, where another bed was laid down. She smiled at the sight.
"Yu... Yunu, wake up. We have uni." she shook him softly, pushing his shoulder. The boy grunted as he turned away from her. Then she hit him with a pillow lightly, and he sprang up as he finally realised her presence.
"Mmm... OK. I'm up. Let's go." Hyejin texted Hansol to open the back door of their house, and she successfully snuck in, changing her clothes, and packing her bag. She soon joined her siblings to head to her university.
Walking into her final class, Hyejin couldn't help but smile shyly and look down. She kept thinking of what today was going to be like, now that something just changed big time in her life. She sat down, and as usual, revised some work. The professor came in and started the class, and she turned her focus mode on.
After half an hour, they weren't doing much work, when suddenly, a paper ball hit Hyejin on her head. She looked back, but didn't see anyone who could have done it. She picked up the ball and opened it.
(*^3^)/~♡
What the hell... she turned back again, but didn't see anyone looking suspicious. She turned to the front, when another one hit her head, and she was quick enough to see someone ducking.
(๑・ω-)~♥"
"No note passing in my class. Who is the other one?" Hyejin looked up to see the professor standing in front of her, and knew she was caught for doing nothing.
"You again? Hhh... Both of you, out." Hyejin turned around to see who, but the person had covered their head with their hoodie. She gathered her things and walked out, following behind the other.
"Hey you! Who do you think you are? Getting me into trouble for nothing!" she pulled the hoodie off, being greeted by a smirk. Hyejin stepped back surprised, and nearly tripped, when he grabbed her waist.
"I thought you would know?" Yunu pulled her to stand, and grabbed her arms. She stood speechless, and he laughed at her innocence.
"Both of us don't have anything after this, so let's go." before Hyejin could respond, Yunu dragged her with him until they reached outside the campus. The guards look at them as they cross the gates, but recognised Yunu, someone who always left early.
"Wait, wait, wait! Yunu! Where the hell are we going?" Hyejin exclaimed as she tried to resist Yunu pulling her.
"Don't know. Anywhere but here. I'm bored and wanna have some fun!" they ran until they reached a bus stop, he pulled her into the first bus that came.
"Yunu stop! This bus goes to... Ansan!" but the bus already started, and Yunu pulled her to sit down. Hyejin looked at him with disbelief, knowing she was doomed.
"Yunu! By the time we come back, it's going to be super late! I'm gonna get into trouble! What am I gon..." Yunu kissed her, pushing her head to hit the window, to stop her from any more questioning. When he pulled away, she looked at him in shock, and embarassment since there were other people on the bus.
"Just trust me. Nothing will happen." they traveled for a while before the bus came to a stop. Yunu pulled her down, and they walked to wherever their feet took them, Yunu in the lead. They cross by shops and stalls on the street, finally stopping in front of a food stall to eat.
"So, which would be good? I've always wanted to try Korean street food, but it would be boring alone." Hyejin stared at him as he eyed all the different foods in front of them. She picked out tteokbokki, fish cakes and tanghulu for dessert. They sat on a bench and ate the food. Hyejin watched as Yunu stuffed all the food into his mouth, and kept moaning in satisfaction. She got him a sikhye while she just had some soda, and watched him enjoy his meal happily.
"Did you bring me all the way here to do this?" he nodded grinning. She sighed in disbelief, and just looked around, when she suddenly froze as she saw something. Yunu noticed her behavior, and looked towards what she saw, and chocked on his food.
"S***! Let's go, quickly!" Hyejin quickly threw everything away in the bin and ran, dragging Yunu with her. Once they reached outside of the square, Yunu pulled her to stop running.
"We're... far enough. Your dad... won't see us... here..." the two gasped and panted for air, and Hyejin fell on the floor, completely tired of all the running, while Yunu leaned against a street light, looking at Hyejin worriedly.
After a while he held her to stand up, and they walked away, Hyejin leaning against Yunu, until they reached a park. They sat down, and Hyejin was quiet the whole time. Yunu looked at her, then snickered, earning a glare from her.
"What's so funny?"
"When you saw him, your face was hilarious. It was like you saw a jumpscare in a horror movie." he chuckled, and Hyejin hit his arm and walked away angry.
"Hyejin! OK, OK, I'm sorry." but she kept walking, and he realised she was very upset. He ran to her, and hugged her from behind, Hyejin stopping on her tracks.
"Are you really going to stay mad at me?... Can you?" Hyejin knew he was right. He was the only one she had now who wasn't afraid to save her, so losing him would mean losing her will to live anymore. She simply released his hold of her, and grabbed his wrist.
"Let's go. We need to catch the bus home." they walked back to the bus stop, waiting quietly for the bus to arrive. Yunu looked at Hyejin as they waited, and noticed she became very gloomy. He stared at her face for a while, before reaching for her hand, and holding it tightly.
"Why do you look like this?" Hyejin suddenly dropped her head onto his shoulder, and he could hear her weep.
"I think... He... Saw me..." she cried as she spoke, unable to stop her tears. Yunu put an arm around her and held her close.
"Don't worry. He wouldn't have seen you..."
"What if he did? I..." he kissed her to shut her up again, and this time, she showed no reaction.
"If he did, I'm here, so don't worry. I won't let him hurt you." Hyejin snuggled closer to him, holding his free hand tight. She couldn't help but be scared out of her life.
By the time they reached home, it was already night. Not late night, but just an hour after sunset, which isn't too bad for most people, except Hyejin. The two walked back home from the bus station, and the more they reach closer, the slower Hyejin walked. Yunu turned to see her far behind when they were in the neighbourhood, and went to her and pulled her to walk faster. Once they reached in front of her house, he turned to her.
"OK, just act natural, and if anything happens, remember that I'm here." they walked into the yard, and Hyejin opened the door, nervously pressing the passcode in. As the door unlocked, Yunu jumped in first to hype up the atmosphere.
"Heesun! I'm here!" Heesun looks up from the table shocked, nearly dropping the cutlery. The two notice that dinner was served, but somebody already ate. And that person was right there...
