Chapter 5
The sunlight was iridescent as the car moved steadily on the road. Mighty trees stood by the side, staring at the single car passing by.
Kaleb looked forward, eyes threatening to close as he fixed his gaze on the blur of pine. He adjusted himself on his seat, finding a comfortable position. The car wasn't exactly a suitable place to doze off in.
Yawning as a man of no slumber, his eyes watered. "Wake me up as soon as we arrive."
Before his eyelids fluttered to close, Kaleb thought:
Where is she now?

The gloomy forest seemed to take Sapphire all in. She felt like she was walking in circles. Its appearance hadn't changed as she walked for hours, not stopping due to paranoia. Nothing looked at all different, just the same trees towering over her feeble frame. Sapphire wished to see something new, other than what she worries most.
Where am I? Sapphire thought as she held onto herself. She looked around. She had never been in the area. She couldn't quite take even a hint of her pack's familiar scent. It was all so foreign to her.
Sapphire knew she was far from home. It struck her deep in the chest. Despair filling her features as she took small steps forward.
Nostalgic feelings of loneliness showered her unfortunately. Sapphire was yet again lost. She never even had a place from the start. She had no family to protect her anymore. Sapphire was isolated.
Sapphire wanted to weep, wanting to pour her heart out. She desired for her feelings to leave along with her tears, but she knew that was impossible. Nothing would happen if she cried. They still wouldn't come.
Sapphire's tears threatened to break through as she staggered through the forest. She forced herself to contain it in.
Sapphire, don't lost yourself. She hoped.
If only Sapphire hadn't been impulsive and thought it all through slowly back in the pack. She still would've been comfortable and continue on with her life, even if she still was a canine.
Why did the spell break anyway? No understandable reason entered Sapphire's thoughts as she toiled. No explanation seemed right, considering that what happened a decade ago was all too sudden. Sapphire wasn't sure, because she never gave her parents a chance to explain.
If Sapphire hadn't thrown a tantrum long ago, would she still be given a reason for everything? She could've been told of how the spell could be lifted.
Unfortunate.
Wandering in the large forest had worn her out. Sapphire was exhausted. When would it all end? Sapphire desired the warmth of her packhouse and family.
Energy seeped off her body with every step she took. Sapphire wanted to sit down and rest, bid farewell to nature and embrace the darkness in her slumber. Her eyelids were heavy, along with her body that wanted to give up already.
Sapphire's eyelids began to drop as her mind continued to shut down, cooperating with her desire of rest.
No!
The scream of disapproval erupting in her head caused her eyes to jerk back open. She shouldn't rest, she still had to search for shelter and her pack. Sapphire hung her head low, knowing that it'd take more than a few hours to get back home.
Sapphire thought she was hopeless, she didn't know her way. The forest was far too large for humans to find her. It was the worst place she could be in. Was Sapphire going to stay in the wild forever? Find a cave or a tree to make herself a home?
