Chapter 7
Kaleb's fingers tapped on the seat's armrest as he gazed at the blanket of clouds outside the dainty plane window. He watched as the clouds slowly dispersed, finally revealing the tremendous view of vague buildings and the layer trees beneath him.
Kaleb took small sips of the glass of wine in his hands as he took in Vermont's Hemlocks. Sugar maple and beech trees dominated the large forest, lucid colors of deep orange and green conquering his line of sight.
The Alpha sat in the plane for a short while, there was nothing he could possibly do other than savoring a glass of white wine and worrying for Sapphire in his state of luxury.
His mind still not uncluttering into arranged sets of ease, at war against nothing but himself. He wanted to focus on Sapphire's search, but his duties as an Alpha invaded his thinking. Another problem rose in the werewolf kingdom, including a vile type of supernatural creature.
They were travelling to Vermont to settle the matter. The meeting was to be held in the Whitefire pack, Lucas Kreisler's territory.
However, due to tradition, Kaleb had to travel somewhere else first. Taking heed of the Eastern Woodland's custom, the Alpha must visit all packs possible to find one's fateful mate. Specifically, the Loch.
Kara convinced Kaleb that the Loch was a magnificent place, from its landscapes to its people. Kara and their deceased mother took a vacation in Vermont years ago, and stayed at the Loch for a few days. His twin sister never failed to describe the placid lake and appeasing aesthetic, along with promising details of how hospitable the people were. Cyres, the president, showered them with generosity during the few days they stayed at the Loch.
Cyres was clearly a wise person and had many stories awaiting to be told. She seemed to be a woman of strong compassion and warmth. Kaleb and her had a conversation on the phone a moment ago, she had a tone laced with obvious authority yet secured with humor and comfort.
Kara also mentioned that the Loch offered shelter to all supernaturals, especially those who lost their way and stumbled around the darkness. More than 50 types of supernatural creatures inhabited the large property, all living in peace. It was admirable, supernaturals are born stubborn and territorial yet Cyres managed them all as they lived on her land.
"Sir Bradley." Kaleb's pristine gaze flickered towards that of a flight attendant. Expressing a small smile, the attendant informed, "We are nearing our location." Kaleb responded with a brief nod of acknowledgment.
Kaleb took one last sip of his wine before placing it down on the table. He once again stared out the window, different hues of yellow orange becoming more vivid as they neared the ground. Vermont's nature glimmered underneath the sun's light, continuing to marvel Kaleb's vision.
"Beautiful," he mumbled, eyes shining with wonder.
The sound of aircraft doors sweeping open prompted Kaleb's ears to perk up. Kaleb stood, fixing his suit to ease the few creases that had formed during the flight.
The forest's recognizable earthy smell bombarded Kaleb's nostrils the moment he stepped out of the private plane. The unique scent grew stronger as he descended the stairs and onto the grey pavement of the airport. Vermont truly had a calming atmosphere.
Kaleb's eyes were then fixated on an unfamiliar chauffeur standing by a sleek black car. The chauffeur caught Kaleb's gaze and lowered his head with reverence.
"A pleasant afternoon, Sir Bradley," The chauffeur, Lorenz, greeted the Alpha, opening the backseat car door for him. Kaleb nodded before getting inside the vehicle, making himself comfortable as the car begun to move.
