Chapter 10

"You'll find them,"

Kaleb offered his determined gaze to his bestfriend. Sam raised his fist as a gesture of tenacity, staring at Kaleb with the same level of relentlessness overtaking the blue hue of his eyes.

The sound of the car door closing followed soon after. Kaleb spared the team one last wave before the car had begun to progress forward, towards and out the Whitefire's excellent gates.

Trees begun to tower over the sleek car almost instantly, yet provided no feeling of daunt but a sense of calmness. Light of the sun sliced through small openings provided by the leaves and caused puzzle pieces of brightness to form on the cemented ground, along with blessing Kaleb's green eyes with the light it granted.

As serene as the surroundings may have been, Kaleb's mind wasn't suited for such ambiance.

Kaleb's thoughts were continuously beaten by anxiety, induced by the fear of the Alphas venturing into the woods with little to no knowledge of what was waiting for them. It was dangerous and risked such prominent lives, but Kaleb believed in them. Accompanied by the information he just acquired, he desired to return home immediately— to make sure of his pack's safety. He was aware of how Andre could do as much as him competently with the opinion guided by the many years they spent together. However, the thought of the Alpha not present during such chaotic times granted him with unease.

Kaleb took his phone out of his pocket, eyes immediately greeted with the dark blue color of his wallpaper. Such consisted of the great vigor of ocean waves, surging out and into the open air whilst strutting its deep color of blue and sprinkles of white.

The great ocean waters reminded him of a certain pair of sapphire blue eyes that refused to leave the premises of his mind. Kaleb recalled her gaze all so vividly, reminded of how it was composed of great depth and buried sentiments— just like the ocean.

Kaleb let out a small breath, closing his eyes as he desired to hold the such beauty in his arms. He reminisced the moment she laid her gaze upon his own, stealing his heart almost immediately with little to no effort; he was fine with her keeping it.

The woman reminded him of the way the sun would shine upon his face, granting him with a glow of happiness and content yet was capable of slicing through him with its harsh nature. She was capable of making him the happiest man alive, but he too knew that at one point, she'd bury him deep with melancholy. Kaleb thought of how no relationship was perfect; though consisted of challenges and mesmerizing memories, he knew it'd all be worth it in the end.

That was it— she was his sunshine.

As if the heavens answered his thoughts, a sudden wave of energy flooded all throughout his body. Kaleb's eyes immediately flew open as a foreign feeling overthrew him, his stomach begun to stir and his heart started to palpitate immensely against his chest.

Kaleb couldn't grasp what was happening to him. He stared at the great trees, taking heed of how the jolt was howling at him to pause and venture into the soothing forest. The abrupt sensation seemed to only grow stronger as they passed by nature

Ever so slowly, a bewitching scent wafted into his senses.

"Stop the car."

Lavender.
