💜John's Birthday💙
"Happy birthday to me..," John sang sadly, kicking his feet up on the table. "I just turned sixteen..."
As John had sang, it was his sixteenth birthday. One of a teenager's most anticipated days of his life. You have free will to do much more things than you could before. You can begin to drive, you can lawfully consent to sexual activity, you can get some piercings without need of approval, you can legally get married- with consent of parental figures of course, and plenty of other joyful things, that make you one step to feeling like an actual adult, for once in your life. So, today should be exciting, right?
Well, for John Laurens, it was the exact opposite...
See, what good was celebrating something...when you were all alone doing it? John's dearest friends, Hercules and Lafayette, were both out shopping for last-minute Halloween costumes, and had completely forgotten that today was John's birthday. Then, there was John's family. His mother was terribly sick, so she was bed-ridden in the hospital. It would be the opposite of a birthday present, if his father had spent the day with him (actually, it would be more like torture). His siblings were all out with friends, since none of them remembered, or were literally small children. And, then, there was Alexander Hamilton: John's ex-boyfriend. He definitely wasn't showing up to John's birthday anytime soon, especially after having just recently gone through a horrible break-up.
So, that left John all alone, drinking a bottle of alcohol he had stolen from his father's collection, on his sixteenth birthday. Knowing his luck, this is how he would be spending Halloween as well, which was coming up in just a few days. Then the same for every other big event, that involved him doing anything. What's the point of having close friends, or a big family, when you're always alone. It fucking sucked. So, what was he going to do about it?
"Screw this," John slowly stood up, chugging down the rest of his bottle. He set it aside, before reaching around for his shoes and coat. "I ain't goin' to lie around, and internally judge my pathetic behaviour. Instead, I'm goin' to talk verbally aloud to myself, like an insane person, and then go outside and take a walk in the park across the street."
And, that's exactly what he did. Making sure to grab his house key, and locking the door behind him, John headed out to the small park. It was quiet, since no one was really outside. They were probably inside, making preparations for Halloween, or carving pumpkins, or being with family. Meanwhile, John Laurens was spending his birthday slightly intoxicated, strolling through the empty park, and kicking any stones he just so happened to pass by. Was he complaining, though..?
Absolutely, he was complaining! Today was something he's been looking forward to for months! Way back in January, when he was still dating Alexander, he had an amazing time planning for his boyfriend's birthday. He did everything for him, and Alex couldn't thank John enough for all that he had done in his power to make sure his fifteenth birthday went perfectly. And, Alex was planning to do the same, in return, for John's sixteenth birthday when it came around in October. But, of course that wasn't happening anymore. Ever since Alex had strayed from John and broke his heart, in August, he knew that he was going to spend his birthday at least mildly depressed.
"My eyes must be deceivin' me. Is John Laurens actually crying?" A male voice arose, from behind him.
John jumped, absolutely startled. He could've sworn he was all alone, when he last checked! Now all of the sudden...he was here? Wait, what is he doing here? Especially on day like today?
"Thomas Jefferson," John stated, quickly wiping his eyes, turning away from the tall, dark man. "Why are you here? And, why are you talking to me?"
