💛Romeo And His Juliet💜

"...and because of all of that, and so much more: will you marry me?"

"Pip, what are you doing?"

Theodosia Burr, a young, dark-skinned girl giggled at the sight before her. Philip Hamilton, sixteen-year old, was kneeling before her, dressed in a make-shift tuxedo, and holding a rose out to her. It was far too amusing. "You can't honestly be serious."

"Come, my love, let us elope together, and run away to the Empire Tower...in...eh, where is it again? Egypt? That's the City of Love, right? In Australia?" Philip asked Theo, who couldn't help but burst into laughter.

"Philip, oh my God, there are so many things wrong with what you just said!"

The two of them laughed together, before Theodosia quickly remembered something and shushed him. Looking behind her quickly, she shut the door to her bedroom, after stepping out onto the balcony where Philip kneeled.

"But, honestly, what are you doing here?" Theo bit her lip in worry, a thousand thoughts running through her mind. "If my father saw you out here, you'd be dead! You know how our families feel about each other."

"And it's stupid!" Philip stood, narrowing his eyes. "My dad and your dad fight for the most petty of reasons! So, which is why I'm asking you to elope with me, Theo!"

"Wait, you were seriously proposing?" Theodosia bit her lip, nervously rocking on her heels.

"Of course!" Philip grabbed her hands, gently slipping the, obviously plastic, rose into her soft palms. "Our fathers don't need to know! We can run far from home, and be like...Romeo and Juliet!"

"They died, Pip!" Theo exclaimed, letting go of his hands. "And I can't run away... Daddy needs me. Especially after we lost my mother..."

"My love," Philip smiled sweetly at the young girl, with tears welling in her eyes, "nothing will stop this fight between our fathers. I wouldn't be surprised if they tried to kill each other at some point! But, all that matters, is how we feel about each other, Theo," Philip kissed her cheek, before caressing it gently. "Do you love me?"

"Oh, Pip, you know I do..," she trailed off, looking down sadly. "But I also love my Dad... Don't ask me to choose between my two favourite men."

"I know how you feel Theo," Philip sighed, backing away from her. He sat atop the railing to the balcony, beckoning her to follow, which she did. "I love my Mom a lot. And, my Pops is alright as well. He can be kind of a douchebag though, at times," the two of them shared a few laughs, before the mood became serious once again. "But, we're growing up! And we can make our own choices."

"It isn't just about our parent's feud, Philip!" Theodosia exclaimed, looking like she could burst into tears at any moment. Seeing her like that broke Philip's heart. "It has to deal with so much more! I need to be there for Daddy! We still are in High School! You have to be there for your mom, and all of your siblings! And there's so much more time to think things through, and not run headfirst into dumb decisions!"

"So, being with me is a dumb decision?" Philip stared down at the balcony floor, holding his hands together.

"No, Philip, you know that's not what I meant," she sighed, nervously playing with a strand of her dark brown hair. "I just--"

Theodosia was cut off, by the sound of a door and footsteps. It had to have been her father! She immediately jumped from the balcony railing, her face completely full of panic.

"Philip, hide! It's my dad! If he catches you out here, who knows what he will-- Pip!" Theo hold to withhold herself from gasping, as Philip had hopped off of the balcony railing.
