Soccer with Louis

Louis and I went on a walk around town today. There were people around us playing soccer on the field by the school. Louis points to them and asks, "Do you think we can join them?"

I looked at him and could tell he really wanted to play a game of soccer. "I don't know," I honestly say. I'm not sure how the people would react when two random people ask if they can join. That seems to be a little creepy, but not as creepy as watching them, which is what we are doing right now.

Being the brave one he is, he walks up to the people and interrupts their game. "Is it alright if my friend Autumn and I join?" he asked them when they all looked at him.

The players looked around, obviously confused about what is going on. I am starting to feel really awkward just standing in front of a bunch of people. And to top it off, Louis had to walk in while they are in the middle of a game and try to talk to them. Only he would be the person to do something like that. A part of me wants to just walk away from this and pretend it never happened.

They all stand in a group next to each other, probably talking about the current situation. Either that or they could be pretending like we aren't here and discussing a game plan.

A few moments later they break apart and face us. One of them, the leader I assume, answers him. "Yeah, you two can join, but you will be on different teams."

Louis turns to me and I shrug. I don't really care about teams. "Fine by me," I say.

They explained to us how the teams were separated, by who wear bandanas and who didn't. I was handed one, and I tied it around my left wrist, which was difficult with one hand able to tie it.

"I will kick your butt!" Louis shouts to me. I can't believe he said that out loud. I start to giggle at the words he just said and shake my head. I will let him think that, even though I don't know the people here very well.

The other people also laugh at what he said. We all set up for the game and start playing.

It didn't feel like it, but five hours passed by before we were finished. We just didn't want to stop playing soccer, but it was already dark out and hard to see. We shook hands with each other and talk about possibly meeting again to have another game. It sounds like it'll be a lot of fun and only in a few days.

I can't wait until then.
