"Are you sure this is the right place?" I ask Harry as we both leave the car.
He takes out a folded piece of paper from his pocket, unfolds it, and looks at it. "It's what's printed on the paper," he says looking up from up.
"Oh... Well should we see if there is anyone inside?" I ask.
Harry nods and says, "Probably." He starts walking towards the front door, and I hesitantly follow behind him.
I accidentally step on the back of his shoes and quietly mutter "Sorry," to him.
"Lily, must you walk so close behind me?" he asks and offers me his hand to hold. I take it, but still walk behind him, trying not to step on the back of his shoe again.
We are now stepping onto the front porch, which creaks with every step we take. " Do you want to knock?" Harry asks me while smiling.
"No way," I tell him and he raises his hand and knocks on the door. It doesn't seem like anyone is here, and nobody answers the door, so we are left standing outside.
"You try," he says and moves out of the way.
As much as I didn't want to, I knocked on the door. I didn't know what to expect, but the wood hurt my knuckles. We stand outside waiting some more, when the door slowly opens.
We walk into the house and it is dark. "Hello?" I call out, but my voice is shaky. There is nobody in sight. Who could have opened the door for us?
"There has to be a light switch around here," Harry says and goes toward the wall. He continues to walk by the wall, but I can't see him anymore because of the darkness.
I don't know what to do now. Harry is somewhere around and I have no idea if anyone is really here or not.
"Harry?" I say and walk towards where he went a little bit. There was no answer from him. "I don't think this is the right place, maybe we should leave now."
I take a few more steps and walk into what seems like a couch. I take a step back and wait for Harry to either answer me or return back here.
I heard something fall, and it seems like it was behind me. I quickly turn around to see what it was, but it's still too dark here to see. "What was that?" I asked out loud even though nobody would answer. I don't know what to do anymore.
Next, I hear that something dragging across the floor. I kneel down in an attempt to hide and hope I won't be seen. This sound is followed by footsteps, which get louder and louder. "Is that you Harry?" Once I ask the question out loud, the footsteps seemed to have disappeared. Maybe I'm just imaging things right now.
I decide to be safe and remain quiet. After staying this way for about a minute, I go back to my feet and slowly walk forward. I hold my arms out, careful to not walk into anything.
I feel a wall ahead of me and move to the side until I notice the wall has ended, and I find the entrance to a different room.
I walk into the new room and notice the floor creaks with each step I take. This room seems to have more furniture compared to the other room, which is probably just an empty space. I decide to call for Harry again. "Harry, are you here?"
Who knew a flashlight would have been helpful right now. I walk around what feels like a table when I hear a voice say, "Who are you?" Well at least someone answered me, but it didn't sound like Harry.
My eyes grow wider, and I don't know what to do. I can feel goosebumps on my arms as the air around me gets cold. I am beginning to hear footsteps again.
I decide to go back to being on my knees, using the table as a shield to hide behind. Just like before, the footsteps stopped, and I am left shivering and scared.
I felt a tap on my shoulder, which caused me to jump and turn around. To my surprise, I didn't scream, but I didn't see anyone behind me. I am really starting to think I should just leave this place, but I don't want to leave Harry here by himself.
Slowly, I crawl the way I came from and into the other room. This seems like a safer way to get there, though it felt like a loud process compared to walking. I am sure I am back to the other room now. I stop to take a rest, when lights turn on. I jumped and gasped, not sure what to do.
I looked around the room, and it seemed very old since it was covered in spider webs. The front door was across the room now, and as I suspected, there wasn't much furniture in this room.
Standing up again, I walk toward the door when I felt something around my waist. I screamed and started hearing a familiar laugh. I turn around and see Harry right behind me, seeming proud that he surprised me.
"Did you seriously bring me here to scare me?" I asked.
"Scare? No, I just found the light switch. Then I saw you, so I thought I would scare you then," he says.
"Then why didn't you answer me the many times I called your name?"
He looked confused. "You called my name? I didn't hear you."
I stayed quiet until I final asked him, "Are you serious? I think we should leave now." I took his arm and made him come to the door with me, making sure not to let go of him. We went back to the car and left without looking back at the house.
