Calebs POV...

I was already sat in the detention that Hanna and I got ourselves into and there were only like ten others on here with me and then Hanna came in. She looked clearly pissed off but so beautiful at the same time. I smiled at her and she returned it. Then I saw Emily walk in behind her and I figured they'd already done something after our Spanish class. Hanna sat in front of me and Emily sat next to me.

We'd been in detention for half an hour now and I was bored out of my mind. The teacher supervising the detention was clearly intrigued in his work and so i tried to talk to Emily.

"Em?" She had her head on the table and I wasn't sure if she was sleeping.

"Mmm?" She lifted her head and smiled. "Oh hey. I didn't know you were there."

"Yeah. Um... what're you doing here?" I asked her.

"Oh I told Mr. Hackett to crawl into a hole and Hanna laughed so she got a second detention and I got this one." I heard Hanna giggle from in front of me. She turned around.

"Yeah and they she got benched on the swim team." She laughed.

"It's not funny Hanna!" Emily was clearly upset.

"It is a bit." I said as Hanna turned back around.

"Fields, Rivers and Marin please be quiet! This is a detention, not a swim meet." The teacher yelled.

"Oh god will everyone stop referencing to swimming!" Emily put her head back to the table and closed her eyes.

I couldn't talk to Hanna so I wrote a note which said,

'how long do you have to be here for? -Caleb xx'

I tapped her shoulder and and she grabbed the paper. About twenty seconds later she returned it and I read it.

'I have to stay an hour after you :( don't wait for me, just go home and study for that test you've got coming up for Bio xx'

She tossed it back to me without turning around and it nearly went behind me. I read it and remembered I said I'd take her home. I really didn't want her to walk home alone, especially after everything with -A. So I quickly wrote a response and handed it back to her.

'You're not walking home alone. Besides, I'll be here, too ;)'

I gave it back to her and she turned around with a 'what do you mean?' look on her face.

Hanna's POV...

I had no idea what he meant. But before I could question him, he grabbed a piece of paper out of his bag, scrunched it up and threw it to the front of the classroom. I immediately turned around to see what happened and I saw the paper hit Mr. Turner right on the head.

"Who was that?" He bellowed. Caleb raised his head.

"Oh. It was me." Caleb said to him.

"Caleb!" I whisper-shouted.

"Rivers that's an extra hour for you." He said. Then I realised why he did it and I thought it was adorable so I turned around again.

"Nice shot!" I said, impressed.

Caleb and I spent the rest of out detention playing noughts and crosses and some hangman on that same piece of paper that we used earlier.

Ring - Ring

The bell just went which means that detention is over. Caleb and I immediately got up and started to make our way outside but Caleb stopped me.

"Han you should probably wake Emily up..." He said as we both turned towards her.

"Ugh" I moaned. "Yeah I should. You go wait outside for me I'll be just a minute." I said.

"Sure but don't take too long your mom's gonna be worried as it is." He said.

"Then can you call her for me? Please?" I gave him puppy-dog eyes which always seem to work for getting what I want.

"Fine." He gave in, as he walked out of the classroom. I made my way back over to Emily. There was definitely something wrong with her. More than just being benched on the swim team.

"Em. Emily." I shook her gently.

"W--What?" She groaned as she woke up.

"We can go home now."

"I don't want to go home." She muttered.

"Right. Come with me." I practically pulled her off her chair and dragged her to the girls bathroom. She made her way into a cubicle but I pulled her out and stood her by the sink. I started to text Caleb to let him know I was going to be a little longer.

'Hey babe, I might be a little longer x wait for me? Xx'

I immediately got a reply.

'Yeah sure. Xx'

I turned my attention back to Emily. She was clearly drunk.

"Who are you texting?" She asked.

"Caleb. Emily wha--" She cut me off.

"You know, if I wasn't gay then Caleb would totally be my type. I mean his face is just so... so... angelic. Don't you think?" She stuttered.

"Um. Yeah I guess so. Emily what's been going on with you recently? And don't say its just because you've been benched." I said.

"Um... my..." She began to cry.

"C'mon Em I know it's hard but whatever it is I'm here for you. And so are the other girls. And guys for that matter." I placed both my hands on her shoulders.

"My dad died." She cried.
