Sector Zi-83

I walked out of the small hospital that looked like it was built 100 years ago.  It was really old, and so were the people inside it.  It was the size of an apartment building, it has about 10 floors.

Why was I there?  To get my weekly checkup in high hopes the doctor would say something miraculous, but like always my hopes came crashing down and washed away like the ocean waves.  I've never actually seen the ocean though, only pictures in books.  Adjusting my bag on my shoulders, I listened to the music on my phone as I walked to school.

My name is Bob Robinson.  I had no parents, just like a lot of other teens.  Walking into school I headed towards my best friends lockers.  I was surprised to see Logan standing there looking down at his phone.

" Oh My GOD LOGAN!  You're here earlier than me!  That's so unexpected! " I said breaking the silence in the dead quiet hallway.

" SSSSSSHHHHH oh my god Bob your so loud. "  Logan told me and I just laughed it off.

" So..what did the doctor say? " He asked.

" Pft, some doctor he is; like a broken record player repeating the same things again and again. " I said trying to make my situation lighter.  Logan just patted my shoulder while he leaned in to show me a picture of Steve on his phone.  We both snickered as he zoomed in.

" What are you guys laughing about? " Steve asked walking through the door.

" Nothing. " Me and Logan both said in unison.  Steve was also our best friend, part of our squad.

" SO Bob, what did the doctor say? " Steve asked opening his locker.

" Awww Steve you do care! " I teased pinching his chipmunk cheeks.

" I only have a WEEK left to live! " I said over exaggerating.  Steve brought it though.  He looked at me like I was a ghost.

" Oh My God really!??! " Steve said in shock as I laughed.

" Steve you Dumbledore I'm joking.  I still have some time left. " I said as Steve sighed shaking his head at me.  I had blood cancer, and our sector was not advance enough to have a cure.  We lived in a strange world.  The bell rang and we walked to class.

" I came early today right, and it was dead quiet in the hallway until Bob turned the corner and was like ' Oh my god Logan you're early! ' he was so loud. " Logan told Steve as I laughed.  We were best friends.  All 3 of us had no parents.  They all got terminated after we were born.  Just like our friend Kevin.

The terminators were these people in white suits who zapped people.  No one knew where the zapped people went.  All we knew is that they zapped elderly people who were incapable of giving back to society, they zapped couples over 35 after their first child was born, and sometimes they would walk into schools and zap kids/teens who they thought weren't good enough.  They carried big heavy white guns that they used to zap people.  Why they zapped people? So they wouldn't be wasting precious resources.  Since we were a small sector, they had to get rid of a lot of people, so that our generation had more resources.

Our friend Kevin...he was the mom of our friend group.  We never knew he was being terminated.  We were all in different classes that day, and word got out after it all happened.  We were devastated.

I just wish we could see Kevin one last time, but everyone knew, wishes never come true in Sector Zi-83.  ( Pronounced Z-83 )

Everyone filed into their classes and the lesson began. It was a small school. Size of a high school, but the first floor was elementary, the second floor was middle school, and the third floor was high school. We lived in a strange world.  We had geography and I was learning about the different sectors on our planet. I wouldn't call it our planet.  The teacher rambled on and on about different climates and bodies of water.  To be honest, even though I aced geography, it wasn't my favorite subject. We couldn't go out and see the world with our own eyes because it was too ' dangerous ' , instead we had to sit in an enclosed room and have a test about a world we've never actually seen.  Steve probably had math right now. In about half an hour, me Steve and Logan would have science together.

The bell rang loud and clear.  The bell rang at different times on all 3 floors.  I quickly walked to science eager to see Logan and Steve. Walking into our class I saw Logan and Steve sitting beside each other. I made my way behind them and sat in my seat. Looking beside me, was another empty seat. It was Kevin's seat. Our cool science teacher Mr. Young walked in with his papers and books.

" Alright class, it'll kinda be a scary week.  Word got our that the terminators will be visiting this week. " He said with concern laced in his voice.  Everyone turned to look at Kevin's empty seat.

" Now I admit anyone being terminated is a horrible thing to see and experience, but if we could; I bet we would fight back.

" Would anyone be able to escape the terminators ? " A classmate asked.

" The terminators would hunt you down, you can run; but you can't hide. Not from the terminators you can't. " Mr. Young said.

" Isn't there any place where the terminators wouldn't come for us? " Another student asked.

" The terminators wouldn't dare take a step outside our sector. Once you leave Sector Zi-83, your on your own. " Mr. Young explained.

Just then, an idea popped inside my head.  Yeah it wasn't a good idea, but it wasn't a bad idea either.  Raising my hand Mr. Young called on me.

" What if we ran away...Like, outside our Sector? ".  I said as the whole class turned to look at me.
