Chapter Three
A Fall, Coins and HomeAdmittedly, falling backward into an abyss without looking behind me was an absolutely terrible idea.
A ladybug trying to fly away home got turned into roadkill. Rest in peace ladybug. May your family get financial stability after this traumatic event.
When I did look, I ended up wrestling a goose and loosing fourteen coins in a bet against a moth (Never trust a moth, they always play dirty. And they destroyed another pair of my good looking world-domination clothes.) before the teleportation spell activated.
You know, maybe looking was a bad idea too.
I landed peacefully on the ground at the outskirts of a deep forest. It smelled strange, but I was used to it. The deep green made my bright blue outfit stand out, but I knew what I was doing. If I wore something green, people might begin to wonder if I stayed in a place like this.
Yep. This was my home sweet home.
I stepped into the forest. No magic spell awaited me, where for some spectacular real world existed by some illusion. It was just a basic forest.
A few mystical creatures shifted around, darting from tree to tree or away from their patch of grass. Just learn what to avoid and you'll live. I'm so thankful someone taught me those. There is no way I wouldn't die without background knowledge.
My gait was brisk but casual. I had my destination in mind, and while no one was following my trail, I needed to go home ASAP.
... In my haste, I left the boiler on...
My bad.
The path was a winding, worn down stretch of land. All you had to do was turn left at the ancient willow tree, walk until you reach the deer statue. Make a right, go straight and pass the waterfall. Go a ways and soon you'll have reached my home.
It was a blend of using the trees, moss and a hill to my advantage. Wedged into a hill, covered in green moss and blocked off by dozens of trees.
No one had been able to find my inhabitants by accident before and I hoped to keep it that way.
Di and Ana were waiting for me outside. After abandoning me in the tunnel, the two finally decided it was high time to show their faces again. Instead of cowering in fear, Di seemed smug at my empty-handed return. Ana was defeated, and it likely was more along the lines of anything but the fact that I lost. She didn't care about that. She had something else in mind.
"Well hello to you too," I snapped at both at them.
They didn't give me any attention. Instead, Ana handed clone one ten coins sadly.
Di cheered. "Guess who won the bet!?"
