"Oh no!" I cried dramatically, my annunciation the most prominent thing in my speech. (It definitely wasn't my acting. There's a reason I went down the path of "Sorceress and future ruler" and not "actress". Not my cup of tea.) "I have lost this takeover attempt. What ever shall I do?" I paused for a moment before I casually continued. "Okay, so bye."
I began to walk out of the throne room briskly.
"Hold up. Where's your elaborate escape plan?" Asked Prince Brice before he stifled a yawn. As I enjoyed to do, I had set up a plan at daybreak. It meant that some people were more than a little sleepy. (It certainly made for a less hostile-looking Prince Brice.)
"Oh. Herman is on his scheduled vacation, and I didn't feel like jumping out a window. So... I'm just going to walk myself out."
Common sense would say that something sounded wrong with my sentence, but Bricey shrugged and shuffled back in the direction of his room.
Common sense was not a morning occurrence.
The need for sleep, however, was. So naturally, none of the guards even cared. They didn't stop, attack or even talk to me.
A leisurely trek through the castle used to be a daily occurrence for me. Now, it called upon nostalgia. The same pristine ivory walls awaited, and I could still feel the aura of royalty ooze from them. They were the only royals I fully respected- the castle. It was regal and never once in its life created a destructive problem. It sheltered its people. It protected them.
I missed the feeling.
Then, I made a left turn and walked straight into a wall. It opened up, a shimmering wall dispersing like a magical secret passageway. The wall closed up once again after I stepped through.
I raised my head slowly as a smirk crossed my face. A boy and a glowing red orb greeted my eyesight.
"How did the guards like the gift baskets?" I asked.
"They were more than a bit surprised, to say the very least. No one would have expected to see that note. What did it say? 'Sorry for injuring you. It wasn't my intention whatsoever. I just hate the royal family. Here's a dozen muffins for you and your family!' Also, the muffins were pretty good."
"Aw, thank you Zach!" I beamed.
I took this as a high compliment. I am an excellent muffin maker.
"Now, why did you call me here?" I asked. The glowing red orb in Zach's hand was something I had given to him. A miniature transmission device that is magically linked to my own miniature transmission device. When activated, both will begin to glow. And when that happens, it means that we have to meet for something.
"Yes. There's some information about the kingdom you must know. There's even a cash reward." Zach's eyes sparkled. "There's someone important coming to the kingdom very soon, and, well, they want you to steal them."
