Chapter Eight
Daybreak, a Scorin and the Wishing Spell"You ready for today?" I asked what was likely the only man I would need in my life.
He nodded eagerly, his blue kitten eyes lighting up in ecstasy.
I started victory dancing, all ready that excited for what was to come. Herman joined in. Then a sleepy figure walked down the stairs. The wisp yawned, her image flickering in and out.
"It's too early for this much noise. You need to, like, hush. I mean, it's daybreak," whined Di. In no way was she intimidating, and I almost snickered when I saw the fuzzy teddy bear she was carrying.
"Go back to bed, Di. We'll be back later when we have rule over the castle," I said quietly.
Di complied immediately, while I got back to overlord mindset.
I smirked and walked over with confidence. Unfortunately, that all fizzled away when I reached Herman's side.
"So, uh... Am I walking in with you, or am I flying in on your back...? And how does that work, exactly?" I asked, embarrassment likely written all over my face.
Herman huffed. His green tail wrapped around my wrist before I had a chance to process it, and he yanked me up. There was the sound of whirring wings taking off.
Before I knew it, I was soaring for the very first time.
I mean, sure I've jumped out a window, but I had never flown like this. It's unique. Magic can't replicate the feeling.
Herman set me on his back gently. (He has an odd mix of fur, feathers and giant shards of crystal. It's pretty cool.) I was transfixed on everything around me. Pink clouds came close to my reach, yet I was unable to touch them. Calm sunlight peaked through reminding me of a hug, which I haven't had in such a long time. (Between only having wisps as friends and a creature whose species I don't know, where do I get a supply of hugs?) Cool air rushed by. Animals were beginning to stir down below, sounding like a welcoming community.
Daybreak was my favorite time for a reason.
There was something magical about watching the world wake. It made for gorgeous scenery, morning dew, and a lack of people.
"Thanks Herman. With such a tough thing like you, I really believe we can win." I smiled. "I am really looking forward to it. Are you?"
He gave a confidence-filled huff. Herman seemed completely ready for whatever was going to happen when we got there. That meant I had to be, too.
I had three magic spells infused into items to use; a freeze spell (Self explanatory), a glow orb (Blinding light attacks the entire room), and the wish spell (Touching it and creating a wish allows it to perform a task of your choice up to three times. It's a cube that's the hardest thing to obtain out of all I own these days.).
"How much longer till we reach the castle?" I asked.
Realization struck.
"Wait, do you even know where we're going?" I shrieked.
Herman flinched from the loud noise next to his ear.
"Sorry," I blushed. "But do you know where the castle is?"
He gave a shrug best he could with no arms and not dropping me. Then he pointed forward with his tail, towards a tall mountain with a castle perched on top.
