Chapter Four
Water, Ideas and Half a Genius
After the events that transpired the day before, I needed a nap, time to build my ego back up, and a new plan. My clones proved to be the most unhelpful beings I have ever met, which really shouldn't have been a surprise. Still, I wish I had created them with having more brain power. Oh well. Too late for an I.Q. now. They'll be like that forever.
Currently, I was deep in thought at the kitchen table. A few dirty plates were in my hands so I could wash them before I whipped up something to eat. I was distracted. What I could really use wasn't around and I think it had been slowly seeping into my sanity.
I needed real company.
I needed my family.
"How many times are you planning on trying to become the ruler?" Ana spoke during my deep thought, jarring me out of my own little world. I jumped, and it took all my efforts to keep from dropping the plates.
"Okay, first off, do not sneak up on me, thank you very much," I growled, shifting on my feet to keep steady.
There was a pause. Ana was waiting on my response, and I didn't want to talk about it too much. My mood wasn't great, but it was manageable. Whenever I thought about my mission, my mind liked to remind me that it wasn't just my goal. I had to do it for everybody. I wasn't going to let anyone els- I mean anyone- be destroyed unjustly.
I sighed. "I will continue until either I obtain the throne, or I see someone fit to lead gain it."
Ana chuckled and grabbed a jug of water from off the table. "You should give up. It's impossible to avoid the inevitable. You are right, though. We can't have a vile creature as the ruler, now can we? Well, unless they had a heart of gold." She stared at her reflection against the surface of the water curiously. "Would that still be considered a vile creature?" She shrugged at her own question and took a sip from her drink. Instead of a normal response to drinking water, it slipped through the misty image of her body and splashed in a puddle on the floor. "Oh that's right. I am not real in the physical sense."
I decided I would ignore the whole water stupidity.
Wait a second. Go back. "Vile creature"...
It seems an idea has presented itself.
"Ana, you're half a genius!" I grinned at her. Running into the kitchen, I grabbed certain ingredients for a perfect dinner.
My other clone Di floated over. "What are you doing?"
A smirk displayed on my face may have been a tad bit malicious. "I'm making a meal."
"Are you... Are you gonna, like, poison it?" Di asked.
"Naw. Not today. That's too played out. However, there's a certain creature that would be a perfect helper. All it requires to listen is a little bribery of food..."
With that, I grabbed the most odd food I now owned and bounded out the door.
I had something that would be enough for me to win now.
Or, at least, I hoped I would.
