After caring for Yuuri and making sure he wasn't dead, Victor was cornered by Hiroko, Phichit, and (surprisingly) Yurio. They glared him down until Phichit finally broke the tense silence.
"What happened?"
Victor gave a sheepish smile, blushing. "Well, you see... I was thinking about what you all told me about the curse, and I realized something... I don't when it started, but..." Victor's face changed to wistful and love-lorn. "I had fallen for Yuuri. Or, I started to have feelings for him. So... I confessed?" He smiled, trying to gain sympathy.
He succeeded in gaining sympathy from Phichit and Hiroko but earned a nice bruised cheek from Yurio.
"OLD MAN!" Yurio grabbed Victor by the shirt and growled. "You realize that's how we all got cursed in the first place, RIGHT?!"
Victor paused, then gave a heart-shaped smile. "Oops. I forgot."
Phichit laughed and sighed. "I think we'll let it pass, but Victor... Yuuri is very fragile in his mind. For all of us, the curse hit us harder than him, but to him... He believes he deserved worse. This curse didn't just change him physically, but mentally. So, be careful with your words."
Victor nodded, rubbing his cheek. "... If I am allowed... How do I win his affection? Or... At least, his friendship?"
Hiroko smiled. "That would be easy if we weren't in an eternal summer. Contrary to what you might believe," she went over to Yuuri and pushed his hair out of his face. "He quite likes to ice skate. It would always make him happy, even during the dark days."
Victor stood and sat on the bed next to Yuuri, then tilted his head. "Dark days? But, I thought you said this place was cursed to be an eternal summer."
"It is. But, Yuuri was depressed long before the curse. The curse just made it so much worse." Hiroko sighed, kissed Yuuri's forehead, then looked to Victor. "... If you break the curse, will you promise me you'll protect him if I'm not around?"
Victor stared at Hiroko with concern, then looked to Yuuri, who started to squirm and whimper. He placed a hand on Yuuri's cheek, and suddenly Yuuri calmed.
"... I will."
----------------------------------------
It had been a few months since that first night, and -while it was difficult- Yuuri and Victor became close.
During the first 2 months, Yuuri avoided Victor, and Victor avoided him. The only communicating the two would partake in was either sending short notes to each other, or seeing the other across the hall and running away, clutching his chest.
Then, the 3rd month came, and something unexpected happened: Yuuri approached Victor. He meekly knocked at Victor's door, but before Victor opened the door, Yuuri rushed away, only leaving a note. But, by the end of the 3rd month, Victor and Yuuri were talking to each other. Through a door.
Progress is progress, no?
Now, the 5th and 6th months were interesting. Yuuri and Victor still only talked through a door, but Yuuri would occasionally peek through Victor's keyhole (NOT LIKE THAT!) and "secretly" watch Victor dance alone in his room, humming some mysterious tune. Victor knew he watched, so he danced and hummed for hours on end, smiling as he felt Yuuri's eyes watch his arms and legs move gracefully.
In the 7th month- or, more like now, I should say- Yuuri asked his servants to do something unique, special, and that ruined his ballroom floor. They agreed and went straight to work. Just a few days later, it was ready.
Yuuri gently knocked on Victor's door and looked to the ground. When the door opened, he glanced up and blushed; Victor was in his usual white shirt and black pants, but apparently, he forgot to button his shirt all the way (or did he?).
