As I ate my breakfast of Rice Krispies (with five spoons of sugar on top), I pondered how my day would turn out. Ryan hadn't made up his Valentine's Day gift (unless it was that album he showed me (that was accompanied by cuddling)) and I was going over to Mikey's after school to tell him how I did all the Valentine's cards stuff. So yeah. Today was gonna be interesting, I decided.
I inhaled (but not really) the rest of my cereal (and tripped down my front steps (but I didn't think anyone saw)) before speed-walking to the woods. I slowed when I saw the gang walking out and snuck down the sidewalk behind them. I thought I was being successful with my sneaking until Josh turned around and said, "You know we can hear you, right?"
"Oh," I said glumly because I forgot they all had super-human animal hearing.
"Yeah, we saw you run across the street," Tyler said. "I could've heard your panting from, like, a mile away."
Everyone nodded in agreement and Patrick said, "I actually heard you slam your door and trip down your porch steps."
"Damn," I said because damn. "I mean, I know you're a rabbit but..."
"Yeah," he said. "I was joking. I can't hear that well. I just know about that because Pete saw it and told me."
I sighed. "Don't scare me like that!"
Patrick smiled. "Sorry."
"It's ok," I said (but it wasn't really ok because I almost had a heart attack (if he had that good of hearing then he might have heard me singing that Miley Cyrus song in the shower (7 Things was my jam))).
We walked to school then had school (that brought homework (ugh)) and when we were walking out of the school, I explained where I was going instead of to their house.
"I'm going over to Mikey's," I told Ryan (and Josh and Tyler (they really wanted to beat me at Mario Kart)).
"Oh," they all said disappointedly.
"But," Ryan started, "I have another album to show you."
"Well, you can show me tomorrow," I said.
"Yeah, but..." He stared at his feet as we walked. "That throws off the whole week. And next week."
"Oh," I said. "We can listen to two tomorrow."
"Nah," he said, shrugging. "That's ok." His mood suddenly heightened. "I have some stuff to do anyways."
"Ok," I said, spotting Ray's car across the parking lot. "Well, I gotta go now. See you later."
"Ok," he pouted, sticking his bottom lip out. I kissed his lip and he perked up slightly. "I'll see you later. Call me before you go to bed."
"I will. And if I don't, you call me, ok?"
"Ok."
I smiled at him before he pulled me into a kiss. I smiled wider at him when we pulled away, then walked backwards, waving at him. He waved back and I turned around and walked to Ray's truck.
Ray and Mikey were leaning against the truck holding hands and when they saw me, they waved (like the cuties they were). We gabbed, chit-chatted and made small talk until Ray helped me in the back of the truck and we took off. I decided I wouldn't try to do another Perks of Being a Wallflower 'and in that moment...' thing for fear of us hitting a bump like last time.
When we got there, I got out and followed Mikey inside while Ray drove off (he had to go home to do something, but was coming back later).
Mikey turned the coffeepot on (I guess he had pre-set it?) before leading me up the stairs. We walked into his room and he closed the door behind us, gesturing to one of the several beanbag chairs on his floor for me to sit down.
