Chapter 6: getting the truth has a price we didn't know about.

Recap:
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

After deciding on who's going we all got ready and said goodbye to the other's, walking up to Sargent Miller he asked if we were ready, we all nodded our heads and he continued forwards saying something about them setting up a lab across the street and that they made a path way to the building so we didn't have to worry about the Empties, making our way there was quiet no one said anything and I can understand why, this world isn't like what it used to be, its like the world has caught fire and it's burning fast, the fire's spreading to destroy anything beautiful while the smoke chokes anything left behind and leaving in it's wake is the ashes.

The flames are the virus, the smoke is the Empties, the beautiful is us it's humanity and the ashes are what's left of the world, if there's even anything left that is. We needed the truth from them because if we didn't get it, then the flames would have burned us and the smoke would have choked us, we survive together because if we don't then we become the ashes of the world that's left behind.

Walking into the building you can smell death in the room, it's the smell you get when you leave food to rot and decay it makes you want to throw up, they told us that we had to wear protected gear so that we didn't pass the virus on to the others when we go back and they also took our blood to check if we're clean of infection, Caden hesitated to go along with it because of his fear of needles but after some encouragement from us he got over it, after getting the all clear sign we were allowed inside.

"be careful with what you do around here, don't touch anything and no matter what happens do not take this protective gear off in here, we don't know what could happen if any of you were expose to this virus if you are exposed we'll know, you'll have you're blood taken again when we leave" Sargent Miller instructed to us, informing us of the danger. We all looked towards Caden when he told us not to touch anything.

"what? Why are you all looking at me like that?" He asked confusion on his face, I rolled my eyes noticing that Miller had continued walking ahead so I rushed to catch up with him.

"so what's happening around here? Do you know what's causing it?" I asked him as we entered a room where loads of lab experiment and scientists are working.

"as far as we know there was an outbreak, a lab somewhere in America was trying to develop a cure for all illnesses you could think of cancer, Ebola, heart disease, strokes, anything and everything you can think of and they nearly did it but from what I heard something went wrong in the lab and the so called 'cure' they were making ended up being the biggest virus in the world, once they realised that they tried to clean up the mess they made but what they didn't know was that the virus was airborne and when they tried to hide it, one of the scientist had dropped a vile containing the virus, the building was put on lockdown and everyone inside the building died but they didn't stay dead, they came back like everyone else." He told all of us as the others had caught up with us as well and listened to him, all of us look worried and sad after he finished.

"what's all this for anyways, are you trying to make a cure for this virus?" Charlie asked him looking around at all the lab equipment in curiosity.

"keyword 'trying', every attempt we've tried it's failed and unfortunately the test subjects for the vaccine were already infected so the cure won't work for them" Sargent Miller informed us, me and Jeremy gave each other uneasy looks.
