Chapter 7: finally seeing through the cracks

Recap:

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Once they had dragged us all out of the building and made sure we were a safe distance away they let us go, dropping me to the ground I grunted from the pain of my ass hitting the hard ground. I looked up to see it was Sergeant Miller who had carried me out.

"now you listen here and you listen good, all of you! That boy was only taken away for his own safety and for yours, he was infected, his gear must have had a breached and the virus had gotten to him, I'm sorry I really am but without the cure he's going to die-" he got cut off by the radio attached to his belt, only now I realised it was there.

"Sergeant Miller do you c-copy over, we need backup sir, t-the empties are o-over powering u-us sir, th-these to m-many of t-them- AHHHHHHH-" the voice coming though the radio suddenly screamed and the radio cuts off, silence fell over us as we looked at the radio in horror as none of us know what to do next but by the look on Miller's face, he knew exactly what to do next.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The sound of gun fire grew louder and louder as we ran after Sergeant Miller, as soon as the radio had cut off Miller gave orders to his men and they all started to run towards where the gun fire from earlier came from so me and the others followed after them, running through the main building past everyone inside they were all screaming and crying from fear.

"where's this hoard coming from, which entrance are they coming from" I heard the Sergeant shout over the noise of screaming and gun shots being fired.

"they're coming from the north entrance sir" one of his men informed him, getting a closer look at him I saw that it was the man I held a gun too earlier, coming to a stop next to them I watched as they picked up bigger guns and more ammunition.

"I want to help" I told them picking up a black Colt M1911 A1 pistol only to have it ripped out of my hand by Miller, I looked at him shocked that he wasn't going to let me help.

"hell no, that's not happening kid you're going to get yourself killed, and it's my job-" before he could finish I cut him off by ripping my arm out of his grasp and crossing them over my chest a stern look resting upon my face staring back at him.

"to keep us safe yeah I know you told me, but I don't think you understand that I can handle myself, I don't need protecting I can protect myself. Now you can either give me a gun or I can go out there without one it's you're choice." I told him, he looked slightly shocked after I had finished, I was still waiting for him to make his decision and it seemed that he had finally made up his mind as he gestured me to follow him back to the table with all of the guns laid out.

"take this one, it's a-" before he could say anymore I once again cut him off, grabbing the gun out of his hands excitement rushing through my body at the familiar feeling of the gun in my hands.

"it's a Glock 19, weights over 855g when its loaded, lengths roughly over 187 mm so that must mean the height would be over 127 mm, standard magazine hold at least 15 bullets." I said to him checking the gun over, pulling the mag clip out to check it then sliding it back in the gun I could hardly contain my excitement over getting to hold a gun again.
