Ten Reasons

Reason 1

"Sorry, I didn't mean to get you in..." I began, trying to apologize Haily for the fifth time but she wasn't in the mood to hear my apologies.

"Shh!" She hissed at me and covered her ears to avoid hearing me. She was ticked because I got us both detention and trust me, she did not like getting detention.

As soon as she came in she sat in the desk the farthest from me and glared at me for five whole minutes. Then when I tried to apologize she decided that she would rather not even look at me then glare at me. We were the only students in detention.

The detention teacher fell asleep and I had been trying to apologize to Haily for the past hour, but she wouldn't listen.

"Haily I am so sorry! I didn't mean to..." I began and she immediately shot up giving me a glare she said,"Shut up!"

I immediately shut my mouth and she sighed before burying her head into her arms that were resting on her desk,"Whats number one?" She asked, her voice muffled by her arms and confusion took over me.

"What?" I asked and she looked at me, the look on her face told me that I was an idiot. I looked down at my desk, avoiding her bright blue eyes and she let out a sigh of annoyance.

"The first attempt to get me to change my mind about prom, what is it?" She asks and I look up at her and grinned.

I pulled my back pack out from underneath my desk and glanced at the teacher checking to make sure he was still asleep. When I confirmed that he was I opened my backpack and pulled out my bag of Starbursts.

Haily's eyes lit up and I motioned for her to come closer, she looked at the teacher, unsure if she should come over. I motioned for her to come closer again and she stood up and slowly made her way towards me.

I handed her a Starburst and watched as she unwrapped it and tossed into her mouth. She smiled at me and held her hand out for more, so I handed her more before eating some.

"At prom we can eat more food, chocolate, cookies, lots of stuff!" I told her and she rolled her eyes.

"Your not gonna bribe me with food," She told me and held out her hand for more Starbursts.

"Really?" I asked, disappointment settling into my voice, she shook her head and I handed her another startburst,"But don't you like food?"

"Oh I love food, I just wouldn't go to prom just because theres food there." She told me and held her hand out for another starburst.

I handed her another mom and we snacked on starbursts for the rest of detention.

After detention Haily and I headed down the hall and to the exit.

"I will admit detention was more fun then I thought it would be," I told Haily and she let out a soft laugh.

"Thats because we were eating half the time," She told me,"And it wasn't that fun, it was boring most the time."

I headed to my beat up pick up truck and she headed to her car. As soon as I had put my seat belt on I turned the radio on an listened as One Call Away by Charlie Puth plays.

I turned the speakers up as I pulled out of the school driveway, Haily's car was right behind mine.
