I spotted Haily sitting at a table in the corner of the cafeteria, no one else was sitting with her so I made my way towards the table, a smile on my face. Haily seemed less grumpy then she usually is as she scanned the cafeteria for someone.
"Hey Haily." I said as I reached her table. She looked up at me and smiled. "Hi Jack."
I sit next to her and her cheeks turn a light shade of pink,"How was Friday night?" I asked her and she smiled again. "For a first date, it was great." She told me.
"You still sure you don't want to come to prom with me after a fun date?" I asked her and she shrugged.
"If you were me you'd understand." She told me, sadness visible on her face.
"Whats wrong?" I asked and she looked up at me. "What?" She asked. "You seem a bit upset."
"I'm fine," She tells me and takes a bite out of her lunch.
"You don't seem fine," I point out and she sent a slight scowl in my direction. "I'm fine." She told me, her tone cold.
I decide to shut up and we finish our lunch in silence. After lunch I head to Biology and take a seat in one of the front desks. Other students started to come in in small groups. We waited for the teacher but I could tell that the teacher is going to be late again.
The class clown Willow quickly stood up and headed towards the front of the class. Everyone stopped talking and she turned to us with a goofy grin,"Okay class, open your books to pages 143, today we are going to learn about..." She trailed off,"Math."
"But this is Biology class." A girl from the back of the class exclaimed.
"I don't care! We are learning math!" Willow told her and picked up the chalk,"Now! Who can tell me what 1+1 is?" She wrote the question down on the chalk board.
"Are you kidding me?" A guy beside me mumbled before calling out,"Two!"
"That is incorrect!" Willow told him and he looked confused,"Notice, I said: Who can tell me what 1+1 is, not what does 1+1 equal. So technically the answer is: 1+1 is a math problem."
The boy shot her a glare at she gave him an innocent smile,"Well now we know who doesn't pay attention in class." She told him teasingly and a few people laughed at him.
"There the same thing!" The boy called out.
"Okay! Now, who can tell me what 2+2 equals?" Willow asked and wrote the question down, the same boy who answered last time replied. "A math problem."
Willow snorted,"Well obviously you weren't paying attention again. And no, that answer is incorrect, I said equal this time, so 2+2 equals 4."
"These are kindergarten questions!" The boy exclaimed.
"I know," Willow told him with a shrug,"But its like I'm teaching kindergarten because some people in here are idiots. Cough you, cough cough."
"I have a question for you." The boy told her, he stood up and walked up to her. She smiled at him.
"Fire away!" She told him and he took the chalk out of her hand and set in down on the teachers desk.
"What does, Will you go to Prom with me equal?" He asked her and everyone in the room immediately fell completely quiet, waiting for her to answer.
"Hmm, I would say that will you go to prom with me would equal...a Yes." She told him and he grinned at her right as the teacher came into the classroom.
"Unless you two want to teach the lesson I suggest that you sit down." He told them and the boy immediately went back to his desk. Willow stayed standing though. The teacher raised his eyebrows,"What are you still standing for?"
"I wanna teach the lesson." Willow told him and picked up the chalk. The teacher took the chalk out of her hand. "No, go sit unless you want detention."
Willow rolled her eyes and headed back to her desk.
Why couldn't Haily have said yes that easily???
