At school the next day Haily was grumpy, I noticed she wasn't wearing her glasses and when she saw me her scowl faded a little.

I approached her during lunch as she stabbed the food on her trey,"Hey Haily whats up?" I asked and sat across from her. She stabbed her food one more time before looking up at me. She didn't say anything, she just stared at me with a slight scowl.

After a few minutes I speak up.

"Whats wrong?" I asked and she stabbed her food again, still staring at me.

"Everything," She told me then turned her attention back to her food. "Why aren't you wearing your glasses?" She looked up at me and a slight blush crept onto her face.

"I forgot them." She told me before taking a bite out of her food.

"How did you forget..." I began but she cut me off with a cold stare. "I just forgot them okay. I don't want to talk about it." I immediately shut my mouth and she sighed, "So, what is your second attempt to change my mind?" She asked.

"You want the second attempt now?" I asked and she turned her attention back to her food, only looking up at me every once in awhile. "Unless you can't think of any."

"Ummm, I can't think of any right now, but i have an idea, can I have your number?" I asked and she looked up a bit startled.

"What?" She asked and I gave a small shrug. "I need it for the second attempt." I told her and she took out a small slip of paper from her pocket.

"Do you have a pencil?" She asked and I looked through my pockets. "I have a pen."

"Give it to me." she told me and I handed the pen to her. I watched as she jotted numbers onto the paper then she handed me the paper and puts the pen into her pocket.

"Thats my pen." I told her and she shrugged.

"And thats my number, seems like a fair trade." She told me as the bell went off, signaling lunch was over. We both got up and I put the slip of paper into my pocket as she headed out the cafeteria doors.

"Jack!" Marcy called and jogged into the room,"You have to take me to Emma's house for our play date!"

"Why can't mom and dad do it?" I asked as I tossed my back pack onto the couch and headed into the kitchen. I opened the fridge as Marcy came into the kitchen.

"Mom and Dad are still at work, they called and told me to tell you to take me to Emma's house when you got home," She told me as I pulled an apple out of the fridge.

"Why can't you walk to Emma's house? She's only a few minutes away." I told her and took a bite about of my apple.

"You know very well that I am not allowed to walk around the neighborhood myself! I could get lost! Or kidnapped! And I'm not sure I fully trust the security in this neighborhood, the kids at my school said there was a killer clown hiding in the neighborhood, they say he eats little kids like me!" Marcy exclaimed and followed me as I headed up the stairs. I freeze and turn to her.

"You mean PennyWise?" I asked and she shrugged," Come on Marcy, people just make up storied like that to scare others, but there not real."

"And how do you know?" Marcy demanded, crossing her arms over her chest, a stubborn scowl on her face.

"Because, I know more then you." I stated and continued up the stairs.

"Ugh!" I heard her stomp her foot in annoyance,"Why do big brothers have to be so annoying!?"

"I don't know, why do little sisters have to be so dumb and believe every single lie they hear?" I asked.

"Because, little kids like me are gullible." She told me and followed me up the stairs,"Please will you take me to Emma's house? You won't have to hear me complain for the next two hours."

I tapped my pencil against the hard surface of the table as I did the math in my head. What does this even mean? I don't understand this! Ugh! Why does math have to be so hard? Oh wait a second, oh! I get it now! No wait, no I don't.

Ugh!

I picked up my phone and pulled the slip of paper out of my pocket. I read the number and typed it into my phone then sent Haily a text.

Hey its Jack.

A speech bubble appeared on the screen right before her respond came.

Hi Jack.

I smiled to myself and typed a response.

How are things going?

Things are okay, I'm working on math right now, but I can't quite get the meaning of this certain problem.

Which problem?

Its problem number five.

I don't understand problem five either!

Huh, I guess the teachers didn't do a very good job of explaining it then. What about you? How are things going?

Things are good over here, I am also currently stuck on math problem five.

Lol. I wonder if anyone else is stuck on it?

I'll ask tomorrow. What are somethings that you do that help you concentrate on homework more?

I listen to piano covers of Disney Love songs, I mean it can distract me sometimes when I want to sing along, but it works most the time, what about you?

Nope, I just sit and do my homework. What song are you listening to right now?

A Whole New World.

Wait it just changed to Part of Your World.

Cool. You know, they might play a lot of songs you like at Prom.

Is this your 2nd attempt to get me to change my mind?

No, I was just letting you know.

Uh huh.

I was!

Okay.

Hey, are you free this friday?

Uhh, I think so why?

I want to take you somewhere, you in?

Uhh, let me check with my parents first.

I set my phone down and continued to work on problem five as I waited for her response. My phone vibrated and I immediately picked it up.

Yeah, I'm in.

Okay :)

I did a fist bump in the air right before she responds.

I have to finish my homework now, I'll text you later, bye.

Okay Bye.

Oh my gosh, I have a date with Haily on Friday, I can't wait to tell Marcy. She'll freak out.
