Jack pov
Friday night had rolled around sooner then then I thought it would. Macy wouldn't stop bugging me about it, she said that I looked to sloppy to go on another date. Like what the heck girl!? Thanks for making me feel nervous!
I pulled up into Hailys driveway and took a deep breath before heading to the doorstep. I reached forward and knocked before taking another deep breath as I waited for someone to open the door.
The door opened and a woman with long blond hair stood in the doorway, smiling brightly at me,"You must Jack! Haily is just finishing getting ready, she is excited for the date, she wouldn't stop talking about it." The woman told me.
"Mom!" I heard Haily whine from inside the house,"Your going to make him leave!"
I held back my amused smile as Haily pouted at her mom and her mom shrugged,"If I hadn't opened the door for you then he probably would have thought you bailed or something! Besides! I wanna meet the guy your dating! You do need my approval first remember?"
"Oh, um, is it alright if I take Haily on a date?" I asked and her mother looked back at me.
"Oh I was just joking Hon." She told me and Hailys shoulders sagged as a slight frown formed her lips as her mom continued to talk to me,"So are you two going to prom together?"
"No," Haily told her and stepped outside,"Not yet anyway."
I looked at the ground for a moment before smiling back up at Hailys mom,"It was nice meeting you." I told her with a polite smile and she reached out to shake her hand.
"It was nice meeting you too Jack." She smiled back and we shook hands.
Haily hugged her mom goodbye and we headed to my truck. I opened the passenger side door for her and she quietly got in. I made my way to the drivers side and got in.
"So, where are we going this time?"She asked and I shrugged.
"To dinner." I told her and she smiled at me.
"May we listen to music?" I turned to her and nodded with a slight smile, watching as her bright green eyes light up from behind her glasses.
She reached forward and searched for the radio button. When she found it she turned it on, quickly searching through the different station until she found what she was searching for.
I listened to the soft melody that plays through the speakers, the song had a soft tune that made me curious and want to listen to it.
I looked at Haily, the happiness and excitement had faded and now she just stares at the radio station with a sad expression. She seemed lost in thought as we both silently listened to the lyrics.
Why was this song so sad? Why do people write sad songs? I don't wanna cry thank you very much! Oh great! Please don't let Haily see! Please don't let Haily see!
I turned my face in a direction that Haily couldn't see it properly in and she turned to me,"Are you okay?" I nodded and rubbed my eyes onto the sleeve of my shirt.
"I'm fine, I'm defiantly not crying." I told her and she looked back at the radio.
"This song played at my Best Friends funeral." She suddenly said quietly and I glanced at her,"She was the happiest person, she always saw the good in everyone, even if there was none to see."
"What happened to her?" I asked quietly and tears welled up in her eyes.
"I was away on vacation when it happened," She told me,"My mom received a phone call from my friends mom saying that she had been killed in a shooting at a restaurant. I still go to school expecting to see her there, ready to be at my side and talk with me...but she isn't there...and she will never be there ever again."
Haily quickly wiped the tears out of her eyes and I leaned forward to turn to music off but she stopped my hand,"No don't! This song helps me feel like she is here with me."
I nodded in understanding and pulled my hand away. Haily let out a sigh and leaned against her seat, closing her eyes as silent tears slipped through her eyelids.
"She's always here with you," I told her and she opened her eyes and looked up at me,"She is up there in heaven, cheering you on as you run the race of life, and once you cross the finish line she will be there to meet you, she will give you the biggest hug ever and and you guys will talk and talk and laugh and laugh and all the pain you felt when she crossed the finish line will be forgotten, because all you will feel is happiness."
Haily stared at me for moment,"Wow, where did all that come from?"
I let out a light laugh and shrugged,"Not even I know."
"Thank you though...for telling me that." She told me as the song switched.
Love Story by Taylor Swift. Haily and I exchanged looks before she starts singing along, switching the words around.
"We were both teens! When I first met you, I close my eyes and the memories start I'm standing there, in the hallway at School Sinclair. See the crowds, see the lockers and classes, see you make your way through the crowd to say hello, little did I know..."

It was only a couple of minutes later when we reached the restaurant, I let Haily finish listening to Love Story and she changed the lyrics to make it sound more like a Tough High School Love Story where the boy suddenly takes more interest in his friends and sports more then his girlfriend.
"But I got tired of waiting, wondering why you were leaving me all alone, my love for you was, fading, then I met you on the Basket ball court, and I said, "Please boy listen, I've been feeling so alone, I keep waiting for you but you never come," is this in my head I don't know what to think he knelt to the ground and pulled out a card and said,"Dance with my lovely Rose, I will take you to Prom, I love you and thats all I feel inside I talked to my friends, and they all understand now, its a love story Rosie just say, yes! Oh oh oh, oh oh oh, cause we were both teens when I first met you."
I watched amazed at Haily's singing skills as she hit every note with perfection, the lyrics just flow past her lips with perfection, she never missed a beat and her voice never cracked, it was perfect.
"Wow," I said and she looked at me, pink raising onto her cheeks,"I didn't know you could sing like that."
She smiles shyly, lowering her head to hide her blush.
I turned the Radio off and we made our way into the Restaurant.
After ordering our food we talk together about completely random stuff,"So, what is your 3rd attempt?" Haily asked as the waiter brought us our food.
I picked up her fork and she raised her eyebrows at me, I just shrugged and fed her a bite at her food,"At prom, we could talk and hang out like we are now."
"Okay, but can't we just talk and hang out any other night or day?" Haily asks and I sigh and let my shoulder sag.
Why was she so difficult
