Haily really seemed upset earlier, and I want to find out why. Why is she so against going to prom with me?
I suck in a deep breath as I pull into Hailys driveway and hop out of my truck. She's probably going to hate me for this, but I need to convince her to go to prom with me, and I need to know why she looked so hurt earlier.
I head up the porch steps and quietly knock on the door and as I do I hear Hailys mom let out a triumphant of victory.
"I win! I told you he'd come!" I hear her exclaim right before the door opens and she smiles at me,"Jack! It's so good to see you again! Haily! You owe me five bucks!"
"Mom!" I hear Haily whine as she squeezes past her mom and out the front door.
"Okay okay! I'll go start dinner." Her mom tells her before heading back inside as Haily frowns at me.
"What are you doing here Jack?" She asks and closes the front door behind her.
"I wanted to see if your okay." I tell her and a look of confusion spreads onto her face.
"What? Why?" She asks and I shrug as she furrows her eyebrows.
"You seemed upset at school and I just wanted to make sure your okay." I tell her and she sighs.
"I'm okay," she tells me,"now go home Jack, your sisters probably waiting for you."
"Actually Macy's having a sleepover at her friends house." I tell her as her mom comes back out.
"Okay, Haily, I know your going to hate me for this, but I'm gonna do it anyway," She tells Haily with a childish tone,"Jack, would you like to stay for dinner?"
"Mom!" Haily exclaims and scowls at her mom.
"Haily!" Her mom matches her tone perfectly and I have to hide my grin.
"Thank you for the offer, but I should start heading home." I tell her with a polite smile and she nods.
"Okay, well, come over any time, in fact, take Haily out any time, you don't even have to ask, just come and say your going to take her out and I'll make her go." She tells me and I chuckle.
Haily gasps and looks at her mom as if she's betrayed her,"Mom!"
"It was nice seeing you again Jack." Her mom tells me before heading back inside.
Haily scowls at me and grin,"Reason number four of why you should come to prom with me," I say and she raises an eyebrow,"It would make your mom so happy."
I turn and head back towards my truck with a grin stuck on my face.
Wait until Macy hears about this.
