"Jack!" My ten year old sister Macy exclaimed as she rushed into the room, excitement and annoyance mixing with her features,"Where have you been? I've been waiting for you to come home for like, forever! Wait! Don't answer that. DID SHE SAY YES!?"
I sighed and shook my head,"No Marcy, she didn't say yes."
"She said no?" Marcy asked, disappointment filling her tone and her happy mood fading.
"No, she said that I can try ten times to change her mind." I told her and her face lit up almost at once,"I've already wasted one of my chances."
She looked in thought for a moment before her face lit up even more,"I have an idea to try to change her mind!"
Before I could question her Marcy grabbed my arm and pulled me up the stairs and into her bedroom. I watched in confusion as she searched around her room for something.
"Wheres mom and dad?" I asked and she rolled her eyes before continuing her search for whatever she was looking for. "Their still at work." She told me. Typical.
"Aha!" She suddenly exclaimed and picked up a small radio and handed it to me before looking through a pile of music CD's and picking up one that has the name John Legend in big bold letters on it.
She took the radio from me and placed the the disc into the radio. I watched with curiosity as she skipped through songs, searching for a certain one.
"Okay, what are you doing?" I asked her,"What are those for?"
"Back in the 80's boys would stand outside the girls windows and play music, that was sort of their way of telling them they liked them." Marcy told me and gasped as I'm guessing the song she was searching for came on.
"Oookaay," Is all I said, ignoring the fact that she knew more about the 80s then I did,"Marcy! This isn't the 80s!"
"I know that!" She exclaimed,"I just thought it would be romantic! Don't you think it would be worth a try?"
She looked at me pleadingly, giving me puppy dog eyes and I let out a sigh,"Fine! Give me the radio! Its the battery kind right? Doesn't need a plug?" She nodded and I picked up the radio and carried it downstairs.
"I wanna come with you!" Marcy exclaimed and raced down the stairs after me.
"No." I told her and she pouted. "Why not? It was my idea!" She exclaimed and I sighed, trying to think of an excuse to make so that she doesn't have to come.
"Your too loud," I told her.
"I'll be quiet I promise!"
"Mom and dad will be wondering where you are when they get home."
"Text them and tell them I'm with you!"
"You'll ruin everything."
"You don't even know what song your supposed to play!" She pointed out, annoyance settling in on her.
I sighed in defeat and turned to her as she glared at me,"Fine! You can come! But if you ruin everything your never coming anywhere with me ever again!"
"Deal!" She exclaimed and raced out the door and to my truck. I sighed and followed her.
She was already buckled in by the time I got to the truck. I handed the radio to her and got in the truck with her. After buckling myself I turned the car radio on and Thunder by Imagine Dragons was playing.
Marcy gasped in delight,"I love this song!" She started singing along and I rolled my eyes.
10 10 10 10 10 10 10 10 (This means later)
I turned the radio off as we got closer to Haily's house. Marcy complained about it but I didn't turn it back on, so once she knew it was off for good she finally shut her mouth.
"This better work Marcy." I said as I opened the truck door. she followed and rolled her eyes.
"It will, it worked in the 80s." She stated flatly.
"Yeah, in the 80s! Its not the 80s anymore!" I stated, annoyed with my little sister.
We headed towards Hailys house and I crossed my finger. We parked farther down away from Hailys house because we didn't want her to hear us. I handed Marcy the radio and she found the song before pausing it and handing it back to me.
I head closer to Hailys bedroom window and turned th volume on the radio up all the way before playing the music.
All of me by John Legend.
I looked down at Marcy and she stared at Hailys window, waiting for a response. We both perked up more when we heard Hailys window open.
"Turn that darn music down! I don't care if your having a party or just being weird but people are trying to study an its not nice of you to be loud and make them lose their concentration! So shut up!" And with that she slammed her window shut and I quickly turned off the music.
Haily didn't notice us down here, she was yelling at th neighbors house. I looked down at Marcy with a slight scowl and she gave me a sheepish grin,'Worth the try, that reaction was hilarious." She told me and laughed a little,"But look on the bright side, Haily didn't know it was you so you didn't lose a chance, you sort of got an extra one."
She has a point, I thought to myself.
I gave Marcy her radio and we headed back to the truck, after we got in I turned the radio back on and scowled at it.
All of Me by John Legend was playing on the radio.
Marcy started to crack up and I gave her a slight smile before she burst into laughter.
