Chapter 10
The story starts when it was hot and it was summer and
I had it all I had him right there where I wanted him
She came along
Got him along and let's hear the applause
She took him faster than you could say sabotage
I never saw it coming
Wouldn't have suspected it
I underestimated just who I was dealing with
She had to know the pain was beating on me like a drum
She underestimated just who she was stealing from
She's not a saint
And she's not what you think
She's an actress, woah
And she's better known for the things that she does on the mattress, woah
Soon she's gonna find
Stealing other people's toys on the playground
Won't make her any friends
She should keep in mind
She should keep in mind
There is nothing I do better than revenge.
Blasting my favourite song, Better Than Revenge by Taylor Swift, I felt what she had felt when she wrote and recorded this song. You go, girl.
Suddenly I remembered that I haven't been hanging out with Zack recently. I grabbed my phone and immediately texted him:
'hey there devil. haven seen ya in a while, sorry! park in 10? (: x'
I shut the music off and went upstairs to my room. I opened my massive cupboard (well, we're GIRLS), and threw some skinny jeans and a fringed cropped tee onto the bed, pairing it with my precious cowboy boots.
I stood in front of the mirror. My wavy hair really brought out the whole effect of the outfit. Was this why Greyson fell for me..? No, no way. I smiled at my reflection, then stuffed my phone into my pocket and headed out.
While I stepped out the door, I couldn't help but think of what happened yesterday after I had pranked Greyson at Starbucks.
He had started laughing after he caught his breath. The other customers' reactions were priceless. Some random old lady was shaking her head in disapproval. She was muttering something, but it looked it she was saying 'Youngsters,'
Well old lady just didn't like being old, did she? I was actually having a real good time with Greyson. Like how I used to feel when Chris took me out. I realised when I was with him, time seemed to slow down. I felt so comfortable with him. When he was gone, well, I didn't seem like myself. Was it possible that I could be falling for him?
Thoughts raced through my mind. I spotted Zack at our usual bench. The tree above it had yellow and pink flowers on it. It was summer after all, and it was beautiful.
I crushed Zack into a hug. 'Oh my god I'm so sorry I didn't hang out with you that often and-' I stopped. His face looked.. Dejected.
'What's wrong?' I asked quietly. He just buried his face into his hands. I pat his back. 'Come on, tell me or I'll steal your teddy bear!' I exclaimed. He had this teddy bear called Spud, and he could never sleep or live without it, considering that he was a 16 year old guy and way too old for soft toys. But it grew on him, since it was a present from his grandma on his fifth birthday, and it had a lot of history.
He looked up. Aha. 'It's... Nothing, really. Hey there. I was looking forward to seeing you,' he tried to fake a smile. 'No, nothing's fine. I can tell that you're torn. So, spill. Or Spud's head.' I threatened with a smile.
'Well, okay. Tiffany.. Well, she.. She left me.' I gasped. Tiffany and Zack had been dating for two years now.. And they were absolutely perfect together. This couldn't have happened..
'What happened?' I finally asked, after a few seconds of silence.
'That bastard Jay, that's what. Stealing her away, huh. Well I don't really care. I have you anyway,' he breathed. That sounded.. Wait, me? Oh yeah, I was his best friend. 'Aww it's okay.. Yeah, you still have me. So just sit up straight, and smile,' I forced him into a smile, although it wasn't that sincere, 'Yeah, like that. Much better.'
He hugged me again. He then proceeded to cry. This was the first time I saw him cry, and I know how much Tiffany meant to him. This wasn't a good time to talk to him about how confusing my feelings for Greyson were, or about the whole Chris and Tara drama. Guess it'll just have to wait then.
