Chapter 20 - Just Wear the Jackets After School

The next day at school, the Serpents had agreed to cover their tattoos and abide by the new principal's rules...but then there were others that wanted to fight it every way possible. Jughead's words repeating themselves in the strawberry blonde's head over and over again... 'You're a bulldog. Go be a bulldog.' The condescending tone dripping off every syllable. She was more than a bulldog, and even more of a Serpent than Jughead could've ever been or grown to be.

That morning she fluffed her hair and slid on the dark leather jacket. In she strutted down the many halls of Riverdale High. Eyes were glued onto her more than usual as she had now entered the student lounge before class. Her fellow Serpent's sat at the end of the room, huddled together with smiles on their faces and their tattoos covered. Macie, on the other hand, hadn't gotten her's yet, so there was nothing to cover or prove she was apart of them. So all she had was the jacket and the makeup to match the color scheme.

"Good morning, everyone." She greeted with her usual bright smile. Reggie's eyes were glued to her as she sat on the couch.

"Take it off." He demanded and her smile then turned into a testing smirk.

"Now, how can you say that to a lady?" She looked up as he began towering over her. Jughead then walked in with the same idea as the girl.

"What's up, guys?" Jughead asked casually before walking over to the vending machine.

"Is this some kind of joke?" He asked, looking between the exes. "Macie, I said take it off."

The girl stood up, patting the boy's chest. "After you, Mantel." She continued to press. Jughead turned around to see the girl wearing the same leather jacket as he, and an impressed smirk planted itself on his lips.

"Oh, Reggie, I don't think you know what this jacket means. Because you have no sense of honor or history..or loyalty." Jughead then added.

"That's it." He tried to pull the jacket off of the girls shoulders and Jughead quickly pushed him off. Just as two bulldogs stood up off the couch to defend their team member, the other two Serpent men within the confinement, Sweet Pea and Fangs, came to the girls backup. Each fought in honor for their own, Toni and Macie joining in on any Bulldog that decided they would intervene.

That is until a certain Veronica Lodge was walking by and called Principal Weatherbee to the rescue. "You all have a week's detention for fighting." He looked at the many teenagers sitting in the office. The man then looked to the two triggers of the fight. "Do I make myself clear, Mr. Jones and Miss. Johnson? Take those jackets off right now, or you're both suspended."

"Please, Jughead, Macie, take the jacket off --" Veronica began to plead before Jughead nodded.

"Then I guess I'm suspended." He shrugged. As he was walking out the door, awaiting to hear Macie's heels following behind him, the silence just seemed to grow.
