Chapter 22 - Pickens Day

After finding the truths that lied within Riverdale soil, the town hadn't hesitated to hold their annual Pickens Day Celebration. The Serpents were called upon to "join" the gathering by being security. Jughead, as he had something to say about everything, had written an article going against it, and more over against Hiram Lodge. All he needed was the approval of the news head; Betty Cooper.

He waltzed into the Blue and Gold's classroom as Betty and Macie were crowded around Kevin, listening intently on how much more superior he felt to the great Archie Andrews. Apparently during wrestling try-outs, he'd paired up with Archie during drills and the boy couldn't even compete. "It felt so good, you guys. It's like, yeah, Archie, you have the physique of a 1970s porn star, but that doesn't mean you can wrestle."

"Speaking of porn stars..." Betty dragged out, sending a small glance to Macie before looking down at her shoes.

"Did you get lost down a webcam rabbit hole last night?" Kevin smirked.

"Wait, Betty you were looking at webcam stars?" Macie raised a brow at the 'innocent' girl.

Betty's eyes widened in wonder, "It's...fascinating. I brought Chic home to help my mom without knowing who he was, and now to find out that he's actually multiple people preforming online? How do I broach that with him? Do I broach that with him?" She stared at her two friends in confusion.

Before either of them could answer or make suggestions, there was a knock at the door. They looked to see Jughead standing with a binder tucked underneath his arm. "Hey, am I interrupting?" He asked.

"Yeah, kinda.." "Yes." Kevin and Macie spoke up.

"No." Betty contradicted. The boy and girl looked to the blonde before simultaneously huffing.

"I just wanted to run some stuff by you, but I can come back.." Jughead suggested and this time Kevin shook his head.

"No, no, no, it's fine." He sighed before getting up and walking out.

"Actually, can you run it by Macie? She's kinda in charge for the time being." Betty admitted and Macie nodded. "I had to step down due to...stress." Betty loosely let out before picking up her book bag and following Kevin out.

Jughead waltzed over to the desk across from his ex-girlfriend and set his messenger bag on the floor. "Hey.." He dragged. "...I haven't seen you lately. Kind of feel like you're avoiding me."

"Now why would I do that, Jug?" The strawberry blonde sarcastically shrugged.

"I hear you're with Reggie now," he tried to smooth the awkward air surrounding them, "that's surprising."
