Louis Tomlinson could not focus. He, despite his harsh appearance, was a worrier. Liam and Katie had both notice this, but decided not to say anything because they too were worried about Caledonia. The pair quietly watched Louis from a safe distant, and finally talked Niall into going to check on him. Niall slowly approached Louis, who frowned until realizing who it was.

“Hey, Ni.” Louis tells him quietly.

“Hey, Tommo, you okay?” Niall asks him. Louis snorts at his question.

“No, Ni, I’m not. What if something happens to Hark and we’re not there to help?” Louis asks Niall. Niall struggles to think of a proper answer. He feels that he, as Lou’s advisor, should be the best at advice.

“C’mon, Lou. She’s ran with shape shifters  for years.” Niall tells Louis. Niall can understand Louis protectiveness, after all this was Caledonia they were talking about. She had been an unofficial member of their pack since grade five. Everywhere they went, she did. Louis often thought it strange that he let a mortal woman hang out with him and his pack, but then again she was special. Louis drops his head in his hands, and Niall sits next to him rubbing his back soothingly.

“Yeah, well she never knew she was hanging with them, so.” Louis tells Niall, and Niall doesn’t know how to answer that.

When Caledonia gets home she is unsurprised to find her aunt and uncle’s house empty, although only having been living here a few days, she knows the house is usually empty. She finds her uncle’s liquor cabinet and decides that she needs a drink, and to call Lou and the gang. She takes the half-filled bottle, without a glass, upstairs to the room she’s staying in. She digs her phone out of her pocket, and scrolls to the T’s. It rings twice before she hears breathing.

“Hark.” Louis says as greeting, and Caledonia feels instantly better about her day.

“I have made two enemies for life today.” She tells him without saying hello first. Louis lets loose a bark of laughter because, yeah, that’s his girl.

“That’s my girl. Who might the poor bastards be that pissed off the great and powerful Harkin?” He asks her with humor.

“They go by the names of Harry Styles and Zayn Malik.” She tells him, and she swear she hears Louis gasp slightly. “Tommo?” She asks him, and Louis clears his throat.

“How did you manage to makes them your enemies, Cal?” He asks her, the humor back in his voice. She takes a swing of the bitter, yet addicting, liquor and answers.

“Called one of them a ‘twat waffle’ and the other one hated me first.” She tells him, and Louis chuckles.

“Twat waffle?” He asks still chuckling. Louis knows that Cal has a mouth on her, like him, but it’s funny to hear her words directed at someone else for a change. He can practically hear Cal shrug her shoulders. She takes another drink of the scotch, and laughs with him.

“It was the first thing to pop into my head!” She tells him, defending herself. “Where’s everyone else?” Caledonia asks him.

“Am I not enough?” He asks her with mock hurt. She rolls her eyes, despite the fact that he can’t physically see her.

“You were always enough, Lou.” She tells him with sincerity. Louis thinks that this is odd, but decides to let it go.

“I’ll let you talk to Niall, then yeah?” He tells her, smiling. She hates the emotional feelings burning in her chest, but she just misses them so much. Caledonia listens while Niall tells her about school, how his teachers are unfair, how Louis refuses to cook him breakfast anymore, and how Liam and Katie are. As she listens the burning feeling in her chest intensifies and she feels a hot tear roll down her cheek.

“Cal?” Niall asks her softly. She wipes the tear off quickly, incase Niall could somehow see her though the phone.

“Yeah, Nialler?” She ask him, and she hears Niall sigh.

“I said Katie wants to speak with you.”

“Put her on, then!” She tells him laughing. She hears Niall chuckle and he passes the phone over with a quick ‘love you’.

“Made enemies then?” Katie’s voice fills her ear. Caledonia wants to sigh with relief. She and Katie have a strong bond, with being the only girls who run with the big boys.

“You know me, KitKat. Always so polite.” Cal tells her chuckling. Just then she gets a text from her aunt telling her that she will be home soon. Caledonia sighs. “I have to go. Jane’s just informed me that she will be home soon.” Katie giggles.

“Give them hell, girl.” She tells her, and Cal has to laugh.

“Tell everyone bye for me. Give my love too.” Katie agrees, and soon Cal is holding a quiet phone to her ear. She takes another drink, and tries not to focus on the loneliness inside. She decides to take an early shower. Just as she is dressed in casual clothes that consist of a short sleeve band tee and shorts, and heads downstairs just as the door opens.

“Caledonia, dear. Help me make dinner. Your uncle will be home in an hour with a guest.” Jane tells her. Cal soon discovers that her aunt is a terrible cook, forcing Cal to do most of it. She had always cooked for everyone back home since everyone, but her, lived with Louis. Caledonia would spent vast amounts of time cooking several meals for the boys and Katie, until she could go back to Louis’s again. She needs to stop thinking of her friends because the burning feeling is returning.

“I fixed everything, Jane.” She tells her aunt. She debates seeing if she can get out of dinner with her uncles and his guest, but she is hungry.

“Thank you, Caledonia. I couldn’t have done it without you. Do want some money to buy so clothes as a thank you?” Jane asks her, and Cal smiles and nods. She really doesn’t need clothes, but she wants to save money for when she can legally live on her own. The pair hear the doorbell ring, and Jane leaves to answer it. Caledonia takes this time to set the table.

“Well, well, well, what have we here?” She lifts her head up to see the one person she doesn’t.

“Malik.” She says as greetings. She really was hoping never to speak to him again, let alone in her aunt’s house.

“What are you doing here?” He asks her, leaning against the wall with his arms crossed. He is dressed in the same outfit from school, and looks her up and down. He has a self-righteous smile that makes Caledonia want to throw a plate at him.

“I live here.” She tells him, and goes back to what she was doing.

“Oh.” Zayn says, slightly shocked. He didn’t think Ted Gentry had any children, and he thought Caledonia last name was Harkin. He decides to ask. “I didn’t know Ted had a child.” He tells her, and he notices her arms stiffen.

“He doesn’t.” She tells, finished with setting the table. Just as Zayn is about to ask, Jane comes back out of the kitchen with Ted.

            “Dinner’s ready!”
