Caledonia ran until she couldn’t anymore, she felt like her lungs were exploding. She finally stopped when she was in the middle of the forest. She sank to the ground and put her head between her knees. Caledonia stayed like this until she had caught her breathe. What the hell were those wolves doing out here? Her inter monologue was cut short by the sound of leaves crunching. She felt her heart stop.

“Cal? Are you ok?” A soft voice asked. Caledonia turned her head to see Ashton standing there. She let out a sigh of relief. She nodded at him, and took his offered hand to pull her up. “What happened?” He asked. Her eyes widen in surprise. How did he know anything was wrong? “You’ve got cuts.” He tells her, as if he had heard her thoughts. She looks down to see, that she does in fact have several cuts and scrapes.

“I’m fine.” Caledonia tells Ashton trying to smile, but it comes out as a grimace.

“My house is about two minutes from here. Would you like to go, so I can clean you up?” Ashton asks in the same soft tone as before. Caledonia nods, and tries to walk but her knee is really hurt.  She leans so of her weight on Ashton-afraid of knocking him over-and he helps her walk. As they being to walk, she begins to hear whispering.

“Do you hear that?” Caledonia asks. Ashton looks at her funny, and shakes his head no. She shrugs her shoulders, and lets her self be lead. They walk for another minute more, and Caledonia spots a house. It’s two story with a very old feel to it.

“This is home.” Ashton tells her, smiling. He leads her onto the porch but before he can open the door, it swings open.

“Ash, you know how I hate when you random go for walks, it is so-“ Luke stops his lecture on Ashton and stares open mouthed at Caledonia.

“You just gonna stand there, pretty boy, or are you gonna help me?” She asks him. Luke just nods and picks her up, like she weights nothing.

“Michael.” Luke says so softly, Caledonia almost didn’t hear him. Michael appears all of sudden beside her, and she squeals in surprise.

“What happened?” Michael asks, sharply. If it wasn’t for his purple hair, Caledonia might have actually been afraid of him. She shakes her head no. Michael takes her from Luke, who goes to stand by Ashton instantly.

“I can walk.” She tells him.

            “Shut up.”

            “Ok.”

Michael takes her to his room, an dumps her on his bed.

“A bit forward aren’t we?” She asks playfully. He rolls his eyes, and walks into the bathroom. Just then Caledonia manages to hear the whispering again, but it is faint.

“What happened? And if you say you fell, I’ll push you down the stairs.” Michael tells her warningly. Caledonia has to laugh, she stops hearing the whispering. She bits her lip and runs her hands over her tattoos on her shoulder.

“I did fall.” She tells him, and he nods as if to ‘I know’. “I was jogging and all of saddened I heard something, and I looked and I saw wolves, Michael. Really, really, big wolves.” She tells him, and his face doesn’t change. He stands up, and turns to look at her.

“There are things in this world, Cal, that are not supposed to be.” He tells her, turning his back. She gently stands and puts her hand out to stop him, she turns him around to make him face her.

“Like what?” She asks. Michael opens his mouth.

“Michael! What are you telling her?!” Calum cries out. Caledonia almost falls over in surprise at his voice.

“She needs to know.” Michael tells him. Calum makes a noise of indifference.

“No, she doesn’t. “ Calum tells Michael.

“You think you she isn’t like us?” Michael asked Calum. They both appeared to have forgotten that Caledonia was even in the room with them. Calum puts his hand on Michael’s shoulder, and rests it there.

“She may not take this well.” Calum says, looking at Caledonia. Caledonia looks at him, with curiosity.

“Take what well?” She asked. Calum looks from Michael to her, and nods his head. He takes on look at Michael and leaves the room.

“Remember what I said about something in this world shouldn’t be?” Michael asks her and she nods. “We are one of those things.” He tells her carefully.

            “What are you?” She asks.

“Vampire.” Caledonia nods her head, and slowly stands.

“Look, Michael, I don’t have time for your bullshit. Don’t make up stories about mythical creatures because that just pathetic. I thought you were my friend.” She tells him stomping out his house, and slowly limping towards her uncle and aunts.

“Caledonia! Wait!” Michael calls out to her.

“Leave me the fuck alone!” She calls to him. She begins to hear the same noise and its louder, and its buzzing and it hurts her head. When Caledonia finally makes it back to her aunts and uncles, she falls on her bed an pulls out her phone. She dials and waits for the greeting.

“Hark.” Louis says to her. Caledonia takes just a moment to listen to Louis voice, it just instantly calms her.

“Something is really fucked up with this town.” She tells him. She hears Lou make a sharp inhale of breathe. “Tommo?” She says.

“Why would say that?” He says, with a forced laugh, trying to keep the nature of the phone conversation light-hearted.

“This guy I met yesterday told me he was a vampire.” She says. Louis is totally silent on the other side of the phone.

“Caledonia, they are obviously messing with the new girl. I’m positive that prick is not actually a vampire.” He tells her laughing. She sighs with relief, of course, Louis would know what to say.

“There’s something else.” She tells her best friend, quietly.

            “Yeah?” Louis asks her softly.

“I keep hearing things. Like whispers, it goes away after a while, but it just strange.” Cal tells him. Louis doesn’t know what to tell her, he has never heard of this and he needs to talk to Niall. “It’s like there is this big secret that I’m supposed to be part of, but I’m not. Am I going crazy, Lou?” She asks, she feels the tears, but she wills them not to fall.

“No, babe, you’re just stressed.” He tells her. “Look, I have to go, but I talk to you really soon, yeah? I love you, Cal.” He tells her.

“I know.” Caledonia says, hanging up the phone.

Louis jumps up from where he was sitting, and goes to find the others. First, other shifters being near Cal was one thing, but vampires is a no. He finds everyone in the living room; Liam and Katie talking softly, and Sam and Niall eating on the floor. He clears his throat and everyone turns their attention to their Alpha.

“Everyone pack your shit. We leave for Sawyer today.”
