I swallow hard and shift my position for the fifth time in the last five minutes, watching as my parents talk to my younger sisters. I listen as Aria says something about her boyfriend and how he's taking classes for engineering, and Willow rolls her eyes, cutting in saying she has big news. She looks over her shoulder and stares at me before smirking and looking back to our parents. "I'm pregnant!" She says grinning, "Isn't that great Lydia?" I stop breathing, and freeze, no longer moving. The band that's been sitting around my chest through out the whole visit tightens even more. I watch as my parents faces turn from shock to happiness, before jumping up and racing out of the room. I hurry out the front door before, anyone can register what happened and hear the door slam behind me. I hurry into the barn and slide into Luna's stall collapsing to the ground against the stall wall.
I pull my knees up against my chin and wrap my arms tightly around them, and feel the warm breath from the horse brushing across my neck. I shift my arms so I can scratch against Luna's neck and feel a sob catch in my throat. I hear the stall door slide open behind me, and feel someone crouch down next to me. "Come here sweetheart." I hear Austin's rough voice next to me and lean into his arms letting the hurt wash over me. His arms wrap around me and rubs up and down my back.
"I don't get it." I say, "Why did she have to say it today?" I swallow hard. "She knows how much I wanted Ty and I's babies. She knows..." I shake my head and bite my lip harder. "Where's Ty?" I ask quietly, feeling my voice catch on the growing lump in my throat.
"I'm sure he'll be out in a minute." Austin says, I glance up at him and see him smirking. "He was laying into her pretty good, he wan't happy she'd hurt you." He shakes his head and shifts. "Not sure dad was to pleased with him snapping though."
A moment later I hear the sound of the stall door sliding open and stand up flinging myself into Tylers hold. "I'm sorry Ty. I just...." He pulls me tighter into his chest and rests his chin on my head.
"You didn't do anything wrong darlin'. Your sister is the one to blame, everyone knows she did it that way just to get to you." I just hide my face in his neck and close my eyes, breathing through my nose. I feel his arms shift around me so that he has one wrapped around my waist and leads me out of the stall and towards our house. "Just hang in there a few more minutes Dee." We reach the porch and I feel Tyler's step falter next to me.
I glance up and see a brief grimace cross his face before he looks down at me. He walks up the front steps in front of me and holds the door open, allowing me to pass through. I stop just inside the living room and lean on the wall watching as Tyler enters and stops at the door rubbing the side of his leg as he pushes it too. "Ty..." He looks up at me and shrugs.
"I'm fine Dee, just a bit sore." He tells me walking his way over to me, his gait slightly uneven. He stops in front of me and kisses my forehead, "I love you sweetheart. Don't worry about me okay?"
I look back up at him and run my fingers along his jaw, turning his face down to me. "Tyler..... I'm going to worry about you, it's my job." I brush my lips against his, "And Ty, I know you're not okay. Just let me help you."
