"You what?" My dads voice echos lowly through the dining room where we sit having dinner.
"Daddy-" I say quietly glancing between he and my mom, before looking at Tyler.
"Don't daddy me Lydia. You two eloped and never said a word about it." He says his tone gruff, as he sits with his arms crossed.
"Owen," Mom says placing her hand gently on my dads shoulder. "Lets go about this in a more civilized manor."
"Civilized Baylor? This is civilized. I just want to know why they went off and did this, when they've been planning the wedding for such a long time, if we count when it originally started." He turns his eyes back to me and raises his eyebrows. "Well hon?"
I open my mouth and then close it looking down. Tyler reaches over grabbing my hand and holding it in his. "We thought about that Owen. Dee and I talked about it, this was the cheaper and easier option. We hadn't started buying anythin' yet. This was less stressful anyway, and frankly that's what I care about." He looks over at me, before continuing. "All I care about is your daughter, and this baby. So you can be mad for all I care, but it's what we wanted and what was the best choice for us. Like it or don't it doesn't change the fact that we got married and are happy. Lydia and I are adults and made an adult decision. Get over it." Tyler says as he pushes up from his chair moving to the kitchen, with the stack of dirty dishes in his hand.
I stare after him before looking back to where my parent sit across from me. "Sorry we didn't tell you. But I'm not going to apologize for marrying him. I love him more than anything. I can't lose him again. We all know how that went last time." I pause shifting in my seat, and moving my hand to rest over my slight belly. "I've wanted to be his wife for so long, and it's one of the best things I've ever done. Please don't try to make me regret it because I won't." I stand up and walk away from the table towards the kitchen where I find Tyler staring out the window over the sink. He glances over his shoulder catching sight of me as I move towards him. I wrap my arms around his waist pressing my cheek against his hard back. "I love you," I say softly. He gently moves my hands off of his body, as he turns to face me.
"I love you too, darlin'. And I love this baby even though it scares the crap outta me." He says laughing a bit. "Don't worry Dee, you're dad doesn't scare me. I'm not goin' anywhere." He bends down kissing me. I press myself against him and close my eyes enjoying the moment. I jump when I hear a light cough behind me and turn to see my mom standing against the wall.
I lean back against Tyler, his arms wrapping around my waist leaving his hands on my belly. "How mad is he?" I ask, not really wanting to know.
My mom sighs and glances into the dining room, her red hair dragging over her shoulder. "He's not really mad honey, he's just..."
"Angry?" I ask and bite my lip when she scowls in my direction.
"He's concerned and hurt Lydia, but he'll get over it. Don't worry about him, it may take a couple days but he'll come around." She steps forward and kisses my cheek, "I think we're gonna head out. Get some rest you two." She looks up at Tyler, "You take care of them, okay? Or it won't be Owen you have to worry about." She turns leaving the kitchen, towards the front door. "I love you guys!"
