This time I took the seat at the head of the table, smiling at the council as they entered the room.

"Thank you for coming on such short notice gentlemen."

None of them responded graciously, they all took a seat and looked over a Gideon

"Katie would you like to begin?"

He said ignoring the confusing looks.
Taking a seat, I nod

"I have called you here to discuss a matter that has been kept secret until now."

Smirks come out from the group

"I told you they couldn't be trusted."

Steven commented.

"As I was saying"

I continued

"Gideon and I have been constructing a plan to enrich the bond between humans and vampires. We are calling it; The Cure."

Matthew was the first to respond

"How long has this 'cure' been under construction?"

"Around six months."
Gideon replies.

This does not have the positive reaction we'd hoped

"So you've been keeping us in the dark for six months? Lying to us?"
Steven interjected.

"There is still many kinks we need to work out, the Cure was to be announced once is was foolproof."
I speak up.

"What is this 'cure'?"

Christian asks curiously. For the first time since the meeting started all eyes are on me.

"As you know, humans and vampires cannot procreate. So we"

I gesture to Gideon

"have come up with the idea, to find me a mate."

"You want to invite another human into our den?"
Matthew asks extremely concerned.

"Yes"

I respond

"we have three potential candidates, who have all been subjected to background checks and will not draw suspicion if they suddenly go missing."

This calms Matthew and the rest of the group.

"Once we find the right match, we will create a new generation of humans who live in harmony with vampires."

"And if it doesn't work?"
Stevens intervenes.

"If the plan fails"

I take a deep breath

"I will wilily become one of you and discard my humanism."

Looking around the room I can tell everyone is satisfied with this. Gideon stands

"All in favour?"

After an eternity, they all raise their hands.
