Internal Sacrifice

R.I.P

Gideon looks at everyone of the humans including me, he's compelling us.

I can't move.

All the other can, my eyes dart of to him and he smiles

"Let's all just be civil." He says to them.

"It's too late." The human says back. Time begins to slow down so much it's like nothing is moving.

The human and Gideon begin to fight, Christina and Alexander start to pick through the other humans. I stand with the other two door guards, I could take them

"Please, just let us through." I don't want to fight. The one shakes his head and begins to advance on me, but before he even touches me his friends hits him over the side of the head. We stare at each other in shock

"You're helping me?" I ask.

He's gone before I get an answer.

I race open the vault door and look around for Gideon and the others. They're all still fighting.

Gideon sees me and makes eye contact, he's trying to compel me, but he's too distracted. He shakes his head and turns away. And that's when time stops. Two humans appear on either side of him, holding his arms back, a third comes up from behind and stabs his heart with a stake.

"Noooooooooo". Everybody stops and stares at me, Christian and Alexander look at the spot I'm staring at. They push aside the humans they are fighting and speed up to me, pushing all three of us inside the vault. Christian locks the vault behind us, well Alexander holds me back.

I don't fight
I can't
I can't move
I'm in shock.

Gideon is dead. The humans killed him.

I turn, sixty vampires are staring at me, I can't speak, so I shake my head, tears flowing down my frozen face.

I look at Christian and Alexander, I don't know what to do. They look back at me the way they did with Gideon, they want me to decide what to do next. An unspoken agreement appointed me leader or maybe not so unspoken.

"Turn on the monitors." I finally say. In a flash, all the computers are lit. I can see and hear everything, including Gideon. He's there, lying in the ground, the wooden stake still sticking out of his chest. Then the screen with him goes black, I look over at the vampire who activated the screens, he's shut that particular one off.
