Chapter 7

Hundreds of dragons all flying for him. On top of Purple Darkness Arthur couldn't break his smile. Such an impressive force had rallied just for him. Beige, cream, white, orange, red and yellow dragons surrounded them peppered with the occasional black or purple dragon. This was an army and they headed North East at such a rate, the Light and Pink armies would never be able to ready themselves in time. They would have to surrender Purple Eyes to him.

Arthur had fought against the Light and Pink armies before. They were powerful and the Pink dragons were deadly. But with the help of the Fire dragons and the Air dragons he was sure they would be fine. Both Air and Fire had very unique traits. Air had incredible flying speeds. Even now they had to slow themselves to keep up with the rest of the dragons. They didn't have a type of fire but their breath could blow just about any dragon away. Fire dragons on the other hand had the most impressive fire power. They could sustain a flame for longer than any other dragon and also because of their large mouths they could breath more than three times as much fire than the average dragon. Their scales were also immune to just about every type of fire.

And Arthur had hundreds of each type of dragon. In his mind he was set.

"You look way to happy," Tia whispered to him.

"I'm about to get my dragon back why wouldn't I be happy?"

Tia looked to the ground and muttered "I don't think they will give Purple Eyes back so willingly."

"We have enough Fire dragons to burn their castle to the ground and enough Air dragons to lift it off the ground, we will be fine," Arthur grunted.

Tia nodded and didn't say anything more. She had her doubts. She was the one who actually saw the Light dragons take in Purple Eyes and the child so willingly. It was creepy and unnatural, so unnatural she knew there had to be something else at play here. Someone must have been meddling with the Light dragons. Even though they were referred to often as the "good dragons" their kindness didn't extend over the boarder, much less to Purple clan, the secondary to their primary opposite.

Tia admired Arthur's enthusiasm but she couldn't help but think that this was a terrible idea. Still being seperated from Purple Darkness would have killed her so she would gladly fight for Arthur.

One thing Tia was sure of, there was going to be a huge and bloody battle.

***

The only dragons powerful enough to protect Purple Eyes from her rival scrambled to get ready.

Ephvangeline and Purple Eyes were locked away in a tower. Through their window they could see everyone getting ready for the war. All the dragons and riders were getting armoured up. And into ranks, even though they couldn't hear they could see the leaders yelling and explaining the battle plans frantically.

Ephvangeline looked to Purple Eyes. How long had it been since she had worn that armour, Ephvangeline wondered. As the purple dragon looked down at the army below Ephvangeline pondered, did Purple Eyes want to join in? Or was she afraid.

A war this huge and with mythical creatures was so beyond Ephvangeline's comprehension, all she could really do was watch. She didn't want to ask any questions in fear of asking the wrong one and triggering something or stepping on someone's sensitivity. So she stayed silent.

Purple Eyes couldn't take her eyes off the army. This was where she was safe. Amongst the enemy where else in the world could she go? No other country could defend against dragons or even understand the importance of why she needed protecting.

She had seen more of the world and for that she was grateful and curious. It wasn't often that dragons left the country. She wished to leave once again. But knew she could not. So long as she was being hunted down by Arthur she was a danger to wherever she went. If dragons could weep she would have been weeping. Not in that moment but in privacy.

Branimir was their guard, he would defend against anyone along with Peace Heart. Sparkling baby pink was his armour and Peace Heart's but Purple Eyes had gotten over it. Now it was a comfort.

He, a pink dragon rider was the reason Arthur was not on her back again and the reason why Ephvangeline was still alive. A pink dragon was one of her, a purple dragon's, greatest allies.

What a bizarre world she was living in.
