Chapter 12

"Hello brother," Voski hissed.

Arthur stood proudly in his armour despite the blood splatter. As soon as he laid eye on his dragon he knew what to do. He sent a mental message to Pixie and Bone tears.

He signaled with his hands and they ran toward the battle.

Voski jumped off Branimir. She didn't know what side Arthur would take so she needed to carry out her mission first and foremost. She darted toward Purple Eyes, swords at the ready. Purple Eyes didn't have time to react, Voski was on her.

Voski swung her sword hitting her neck, her scales protected her flesh but they were sliced in half. She reared up to fight the woman opening her mouth to blast her with fire and stab her with razor claws. But Voski was faster throwing a vile into Purple Eyes' mouth with perfect precision. Purple Eyes was unable to light the flame inside her. The awful taste of the liquid stung her mouth.

Voski swung again.

Misery Talons was in the way, Arthur could see his sister readying her sword. He was desperate.

Shy Love could smell the purple rider's desperation and despite his hatred for him he knew that the rider would protect Purple Eyes. It was in everyone's best interest to let him get close, just this once. So Shy Love threw himself at Misery Talons. Doing his best to aim at her throat. He copped a slash to the cheek but there was an opening left for Arthur.

And Arthur took it.

He practically flew across the hall to Voski and swung at her head, hitting her helmet with all the strength that he had.

Her helmet held fast but it threw Voski off and she screamed in rage and turned on Arthur.

"You choose their side brother?" She hissed at him.

He had no words for her. She was trying to murder his dragon. His dragon that he had new found respect and care for. His words were all for Purple Eyes and he caught her terrified but still stunning eyes.

"Get out of here, I'll handle her!"

Despite it coming from the person they had been running from for months Ephvangeline took his advice and grabbed Purple Eyes' wing.

But Purple Eyes was frozen to the spot but Arthur's words. Never had he said anything like that before to her. She could see that he really meant it too. There was an honesty to his tone of voice.

It healed.

The main castle was being melted but beside that the battle was a success. Catcher was up against Jaron, leader of the Fire dragons. He was a fearsome opponent but so was she. She had honour on her side. In her heart she knew she was doing the right thing and that right thing was protecting a dragon from it's horrid rider.

Candella was beside her fighting Dinu of the Air dragons. A quick dynamic opponent. Luckily Peace Heart was more than a match for an Air dragon. His moves were nearly as quick as the air dragon. So a lot of her fight was chasing the legless dragon through the air.

Candella swooped past Catcher, Peace Heart biting at the air dragon's tail.

Catcher yelled to her friend as she passed "Have you seen Bone Tears?"

This caught Candella off guard. Her dragon circled and spun around the air but her eyes were on the ground. She scanned the armies. There was no sign of Bone Tears. But Bone Tears was one of Arthur's trusted friends. She would have to be there somewhere. Bone Tears was too good in battle to be left out.

Candella's eyes caught the entrance of the castle. The grand double doors were askew. Just enough for a small dragon to slip through, one like Bone Tears.

Candella's mind instantly reached to Catcher, her dragon and Safe.

Arthur is inside!

The two leading dragons abandoned their fights for the most important one.
