Chapter 16

Big fat rolls of smoke streamed out of Destiny's house. Unknown to most it wasn't because her dragon, Death, had a cold. It wasn't dragon related at all. She had burned toast so severely she had nearly suffocated herself. And at the same time as her dragon's rich laugh echoed throughout her house there was a knock at the door.

She threw open the windows gagging on the blacken air before running to the door.

There stood Ephvangeline and Purple Eyes. Her heart dropped. She had been to the funeral and heard every word of Purple Eyes' story. She couldn't believe what had happened and how much the two had been through.

Ephvangeline looked around "is Death ok?"

"Yeah she's fine," Destiny waved her off.

That is not dragon smoke

Ephvangeline giggled at Purple Eyes' remark "then what is it?"

"Nothing important. I'd say come in but I'm waiting for the smoke to get the hell out of here. What can I do for you?"

Ephvangeline looked at the purple dragon, but it was clear she was going to make Ephvangeline do all the talking.

"Well, I wanted to be trained... to umm... fight and be helpful to Purple Eyes," Ephvangeline sighed "during the battle I was completely useless."

Destiny smiled "Certainly."

It took a while and a number of awkward moments just standing outside waiting for the smoke to clear but when it did Purple Eyes and Ephvangeline entered Destiny's cave house and Ephvangeline sat at the table sipping from a cup of tea while Purple Eyes spent some quality time with Death. (that sounds morid)

"So I guess I should start from the beginning," Destiny sat across from Ephvangeline on the table.

Ephvangeline nodded and Destiny pulled a white board marker seemingly out of thin air or possibly her sleeve. Ephvangeline couldn't tell. But Destiny began to draw on the marble table. She drew what looked like a clock face but next to the numbers she drew symbols and drew a line from 3 to 9.

"This is more or less how dragon country is set out," Destiny explained, happy with her work.

"Like a clock face?" Ephvangeline asked.

"Exactly like one, you might know this but there are twelve types of dragons and 11 clans. Ten of the clans are along the border of dragon country and Nature clan is in the middle," Destiny explained.

"What about this one," Ephvangeline pointed to the rainbow symbol at number 9.

Destiny smiled "I like your eagerness but I'll get to it."

Ephvangeline sat back in her seat and sipped from her tea.

Destiny pointed to twelve the symbol there was a sun "You could probably guess which one this is, Light clan. They are also known as 'good clan' or 'gold and silver clan' because of course the dragons are gold and silver. Their origin is they came from the tears of the empress that dropped down onto her jewelry, hence gold and silver. And they have ties with Light magic."

Ephvangeline nodded "I saw some of that."

"They usually don't start fights because they see themselves as having the higher moral ground but you've seen first hand that isn't true."

Ephvangeline nodded sadly.

Next Destiny pointed to one which was a love heart "This you've also had experience with, Pink clan. They are secondary to Light clan which pretty much means that they will side with Light clan on everything. They have incredible fighting skill that they are born with. And as far as I know their origin is unknown. They have a pretty happy go lucky attitude or so I've heard."

Ephvangeline thought of Branimir "That's pretty true."

Destiny pointed to two which had a blob next to it "this is Earth clan, the wingless dragons. They don't breathe fire either, they breathe or spit, whatever you want to call it liquid stone that turns solid on impact. Also Soil as well. They are good at pretty much anything on the ground, like running and tunneling. A very heavy weight dragon too. Their origin is an ancient land slide."

Ephvangeline looked at the symbol she supposed it was meant to be mud.

Destiny's finger slid to elven which had an snowflake next to it "Ice clan or Snow clan. They're called those names equally. They are generally white or blue with very reflective scales. Their fire if you can call it that is snow and ice that does the same thing as the stone does. They are secondary to Water but have been known to side with Air. They came from the ancient mountains"

Ephvangeline tried to remember all that because she had never seen an ice dragon. She imagined it to be beautiful.

Destiny pointed to ten next with a water drop symbol "Water clan. They are blue of course and breathe water fire. Which is fire that only burns in water. So they spit then blast you with it. They are also extreme swimmers. And they came from a flood."

Ephvangeline nodded.

"So 10 to 2 those dragons are all on the 'good' side. Which means they typically side with the Light dragons," Destiny explained "Now the side that is a little more important for you to know the 'evil' side."

Destiny gave her a cheeky smile. Ephvangeline returned it. She could get used to this.

Meow myths,

Sorry for the heavy exposition. I thought some of it would be interesting to you guys because I did delete the book explaining all this stuff that was mentioned in the first book. It's a little late I know but hey now you know. Also if you find it boring feel free to skip it. We will get to more interesting training from Destiny in future chapters.
