Chapter 8

His dragons flew over the precious metal city, covering it in a blanket of white and red. Then they rained down upon in. Fire dragons blasted fire senselessly and Air dragons were inside the city before anyone could react.

Catcher, leader of the Light dragons had refused to hand over Purple Eyes so this had to happen. Arthur drew his sword as Purple Darkness dipped into the battle. He would have to fight his way to the castle. Fight and win. There was no way he would go down because no one had as much determination as him.

Purple Darkness' claws met the ground and Arthur jumped off leaving Tia and her dragon to fight as a team. As it should be.

Dodging dragons and fighting riders Arthur speed through the streets. He looked skyward to the fire dragons who were melting the city. As he did hoards of pink dragons flew out to meet them. The pink dragons fought dirty and fast. The only way the fire dragons could fight back was to hit them with flames. But the pinks dragons were masters and dodging, the soon picked off the weak.

A fire dragon fell beside Arthur. Not dead but wailing in pain, it's rider trying it's best to help the poor dragon. Arthur needed to get to Purple Eyes, to take her for himself before his army collapsed. Thought they would give him enough time. Fire dragons wouldn't go down with a fight and neither would the Air dragons.

He held his sword white knuckled and speed through the streets once again.

He met a gold dragon with a rider, sword pointed at him. They charged. Arthur barely had enough time to duck the rider's blade and ended up being kicked by the dragon across the street as if he were nothing more than a doll.

He hit a wall hard. The dragon wasn't big but what was he without a dragon?

He spat out blood and stood up looking the rider in the eye. The dragon blew fire at him. He ducked avoiding the flames by any means possible. Those flames would kill him if they were to get a hold on him even though his armour protected him from it he still had to be careful. He pulled his shield from his back and covered himself charging at the dragon. He could feel the heat of it's flames on his shield. All he had to do was get close enough to the dragon for it to be too dangerous to breathe fire. So he ignored the heat and ran onwards. The dragons started to back away awkwardly reversing but it wasn't fast enough. Arthur ran towards it and struck it with his sword. It slid over the dragon's scales until finding a grip, then the sword bit deeper and deeper.

The dragon gave out a deafening roar and blasted fire into the air. It flailed around in pain giving arthur the opportunity to slip past. He took it.

The castle was in his sights. But there were hundreds of Light dragons defending it. He hit from them looking around desperately.

The Air dragons would be there any second and he needed them.

The battle was brutal and Ephvangeline couldn't watch. She kept her eyes away from the window but Purple Eyes on the other hand was glued to it.

Branimir and Shy Love were posted at the one and only entrance to the room listening to every sound and talking with the dragons out in the battle. They were Purple Eyes' personal bodyguards. Ephvangeline was grateful. She knew that if Arthur fought them the first they would do would be kill her. But now they had Branimir and Shy Love and they would put up a better battle than anyone.

"The fire dragons are trying to melt the city," Branimir told them.

Ephvangeline's eyes widened "it's silver and gold they can do that?"

Branimir gave a tight lipped smile "well they aren't called fire dragons for nothing."

Ephvangeline appreciated Branimir's humour but she was too scared to laugh. She looked toward Purple Eyes but Purple Eyes had not reacted. She was still watching the battle, through her eyes had turned slightly more skyward.

"What are we going to do then?" Ephvangeline asked.

"Well we can't stay up here, they're trying to melt the place, first goes the towers."

I can even feel the heat on my ears.

Shy Love twitched his little dragon ears. This made Ephvangeline giggle a little.

"We've got to go underground. Everyone get on Shy Love!" Branimir announced climbing onto his dragon.

Purple Eyes didn't respond again. Ephvangeline placed a delicate hand on the dragon's shoulder blade "Come on, it isn't safe here."

Purple Eyes nodded and joined Ephvangeline on Shy Love.

Misery Talons stood among the silver dragons without so much as a second glance from them. The only purple that showed was her eyes. Voski thought it ironic.

But they were so close to the castle.

And no one noticed as they slipped out of rank toward it.

Meow myths,

Sorry this is a little late. I had an assessment creep up on me. Those things are always so creepy. Also I've been working on a brand new book which I'm sure you've heard about but I'll explain anyway. It's called A Pride of werecats. And it follows, well a pride of werecats as they discover who they are in the mythical world. It's very early days but it's a lot of pack/pride fun so if you're into that.
