The four were seated in the outside area of Daniel's grill, the autumn sun was layered on Mona's dreadlocks and highlighted the honey glow in Koh's skin. The overhead cover was a thick green fabric that didn't cover the entire area. Mona and Koh both sat on a black sofa and Koh eyes were hidden by a pair of large purple butterfly sunglasses.
Monroe and Aden sat on a similar sofa in the shade of the green cover -across from Koh and Mona. A ficus sat rooted into a small red clay pot next to Monroe and the coffee table in front of all four of them was pure wood that housed an ashtray, a beaker with sugar sashays and a tiny cactus.
"So," Aden began which silenced Monroe and Koh's conversation about cryptozoology. "How do you know the owner of this place?"
Monroe's face fell as the question sunk in. She hadn't thought about how they'd react to find out that she's a consumed and she most definitely didn't plan on telling them until she was sure she could trust them. Unfortunately, she's a terrible liar in terms of magic. What choice did she have now? She was starting to like them but the thought of revealing her deepest, darkest secret was nerve recking.
Sighing, she confessed everything to them. She told them that Daniel was her bond and that she was a consumed. She told them how grandmother Dorothea magically broke him out of a mental prison. She told them why he was here; that her original bond (Stephan) deserted her and that her darkness consumed her. She told them that Daniel's crimes eased her darkness.
Koh finally took of her glasses as she commented, "that's deep."
"This Stephan guy sounds like he needs a curse in the near future," Mona hissed. "I've mastered a nightmare plague -if you're interested."
Aden pointed at her gently. "Vampires don't sleep." Mona groaned softly then turned to Monroe. His trademarked Asian features revealed a glint of excitement. "If you're a consumed how strong does that truly make you?"
"Huh," Mona and Koh yelled in unison.
"Other castors can't feel the full strength of a consumed. We only felt a fraction of your powers before we met you. Even Mona said you're strong enough to destroy the entire solar system and still have strength to do it again. You're more stronger then we anticipated."
"And yet," Koh began, "you're having boy troubles with a human." All four started laughing and -for once in her life- Monroe didn't feel that she had to hide. She found solace in a group of outcasts that were more than welcoming to her. A sorceress that had no control over her environment, a witch with a snarky and sarcastic sense of humor and a heart of stone that Monroe admired and an white snake aero castor that kept to himself.
Daniel walked up to their table with a tray in his hands. His dark eyes were filled with crazy and his messy brown-red hair was away from his face and his skinny body looked limped as he walked towards the castors. He laid the tray on the coffee table and placed four to go paper cups on the table.
"On the house!" He yelled loud enough for the trio of human at the door to hear. Who should they be but Lucas, Stacy and Amanda.
"They're taking over our hang out now?" Amanda hissed.
"Any friend of Monroe's is a pay-free customer to me," Daniel yelled again.
Amanda growled while Monroe began to laugh at her fury. "Serves the bitch right!" Koh bellowed with one of the cups raised in her hand as she stood. She eyed Amanda and the other two humans with an evil smirk. "Can we at least hex her?"
Monroe nodded smiling a little. 'Why not? She's the one who planted the seed into Lucas' mind.'
Koh took a sip of her drink then turned back to Amanda while everyone else observed. "Wait," Mona called out with her usual deep voice buzzing in the air. "What are you going to do to her?"
