An Untold Legend

Chapter 6: Coincidences

He woke up earlier than usual. He couldn't sleep properly because of the events of the previous day, but the person sleeping right above his room seemed to have a good night's sleep as he couldn't hear a single sound from her small room. 'She sleeps peacefully,' he tought before the image of his housemates crossed his mind as he sighed internally, '...unlike others.'

Jinyoung got up from his bed, and reached for his bag to take out the USB he had to retrieve as the result of his mission. He dressed up to go to his work before Jaebum woke up, and left a note on his door to inform him. The morning breeze greeted him as he managed to put a smile on his face before driving off to the company.

It was noon, as she made her way to the bus stop. She was finally having the free time, which she wanted to spend with the people she missed all this time. She had been staying in Seoul for many years, but she never thought she would get close to someone like that. She knew she had a very shy personality, and if it wasn't for that incident she wouldn't have known such wonderful people. They were the very first friends she ever had, and she was thankful that she got to know them. The bus arrived and she got in, reminiscing about the incident.

2 Years Ago:

She was making her way to her apartment. It was night and she knew she was inviting trouble by walking through the empty streets. 'Why did I choose to live here of all the places?' The night was getting deeper and everything proved to be an indication of it. She was almost there when she heard someone cough from behind, and she got goosebumps when she felt that presence not too far from her. Judging from the voice, he was a man. She quickened her pace, a part of her hoping that the person wouldn't notice the change but she was wrong.

The heavy steps of the man also grew faster. He was definitely following her, and she ran for her life. She was fast, but he was faster to get a hold of her wrist. She tried hard to escape from his grasp and screamed at the top of her lungs for help. He just chuckled in response, as her voice was too soft to be heard by anyone, even when she was screaming. He hit her in the abdomen and her mind went black for a while.

She was bracing herself to take another punch as she closed her eyes tightly, but it never came. Instead she heard the man grunting in pain. Finally taking the courage to open her eyes, she saw that the man was pinned down by two young men; one holding his arms behind his back as the other was calling the police.

They saw her and signaled her to sit down, as the police arrived in a few minutes to take the perpetrator away. She was too shocked to answer any questions, and noticing this her saviors did that for her. After the investigation was completed from their side, the police went away with the man, while the other two accompanied her to her apartment. The elder one made jokes to calm her down, whereas the younger one made sarcastic remarks earning him a smack from the elder. She couldn't help but smile all the way back.

The bus arrived at her destined stop, and she got off, still absorbed in her thoughts. She remembered how her mother welcomed them after they had saved her, and how they used to accompany her every morning. She also remembered how she became friends with their friends, and how they helped her find a better apartment.

She then started to walk in the direction of their house. She was about to take the last turn, when she bumped into someone who was also making the turn from the opposite side.

She stumbled and was about to fall, when the person caught her by her waist. She had her eyes closed tightly and realizing their awkward position, she couldn't bring herself to open them. She scolded herself internally, 'You're really a fool! You're making the situation more awkward! Keeping your eyes closed doesn't mean that you can escape this!! What to do!' Before she could open her eyes, she heard a chuckle from the other person as he steadied her.
