She kept running without knowing where to stop. She knew she couldn't escape, but she still had to try. Heavy atmosphere surrounded her, and the only thing heard in the silence was the sound of her unsteady footsteps. Burning tears formed at the corner of her eyes, but she didn't try to wipe them. Beads of sweat formed on her forehead were stinging her wound, as her hair were sticking to her face. She was out of breath, but her purpose was more stronger than stopping to catch her breath. Memories flooded her mind, as the sense of realization allowed more tears to escape her eyes. She never deserved this in the first place; the ace of the company was being chased by her own comrades.
Everything seemed to go in vain, because—sooner or later—she knew they would get her. But before that, she needed to secure the evidence. Her mind was unable to process anything, but her feet carried her through the familiar turns of the streets. She never thought that she was about to commit a huge crime, and if it weren't for her quick senses, she could've gotten herself into a big trouble. She was happy that she was able to stop before anything happened, but she was in an even greater trouble than before. At that moment, she missed her friends, and her normal life. She regretted winning the competition in her college, through which the company recruited her. She wanted to join after she graduated, but they were able to convince her sooner.
She was scared at the thought of not being able to go to college and see her friends. She even feared that she would not be able to see the light of the next day. The sole of her shoe fell apart as she bumped into someone, causing the other person to fall. Seeing another person in the life-threatening situation could've been a ray of hope for her, but instead she got scared. She didn't want anyone to be involved in that dangerous game, but seeing that her feet were about to give up soon, she approached the person, who also happened to be a girl. She held the girl's hand, and placed a small ring in her palm.
"Nice manners you've got! It was also my fault in bumping, but how can you scare a person when they haven't even stood up," the girl said getting up.
"P-please.. I don't have much time.. I don't want to involve you in this.. But please take this ring to the police! It's a very important evidence!! Now run.. don't get caught by them.." She managed to say in between her heavy breaths.
The other girl was obviously scared, and moved back. "Wh-who a-are you??"
"I don't have TIME!! Please understand.. They're going to get you too if you don't hurry!! Please RUN!" Saying this she continued running, leaving the other girl speechless.
Her destination was just a few turns away, and she was then at a safe distance from the other girl. As she was about to make the next turn, she was tripped by a rope as her knees were badly scratched. She winced in pain as the man who caused her to trip came in view. "It's good to see you in this state! I didn't know you would come to the trap yourself. Well, what else can be expected from a teenager," the man spoke as he held her arms behind her back, tying them with the rope.
"What do you want?" She managed to say in a strong voice. She didn't want to show her weak self in front of him.
"This," the man said with a smirk on his face, as he gave her a hard punch on the right cheek, causing it to swell in an instant.
"Using force on a teenage girl.. Is this what you call strength?" She laughed bitterly.
"You speak too much," he said as he injected her with something, causing her to collapse.
He proceeded to tie her feet with the rope, as another man approached him from behind. "Hurry up! We're getting late! Don't let her die," the other man ordered, and carried her collapsed body on his shoulder.
A van was waiting for them at the corner, as they shoved her inside before driving away.
