Last one standing (Extreme would you rather)

Ch. 8

"It's another little game! So let me explain.." said Eggman. "There will be two choices. The first will be to last two whole minutes inside this glass chamber. Or, you can pick a card from the deck, with a dare on it. You have to take the dare or it will be instant death for you!" He said.

As he spoke, a deck of cards slid out from under the floor, ontop a small conveyor belt running around the chamber, within a player's reach.

"You see, the card isn't the easy way out though..."

Sonic perked his ear up.

"It could be even more deadly than the chamber." Eggman finished. He had a wicked grin on his face, proud of his creation.

Knuckles sat open mouthed. What a game, this round was, Shadow thought.

He knew Sonic was already dreading the choice of water or a card. Eggman must have done that on purpose. What a roguish man.

"We'll play counter clockwise this time, Knuckles, will you be ever so kind and choose a card declaring who shall go first?" Eggman said.

A new deck made its way to Knuckles on the conveyer belt. He slowly picked up the card reading it.

"Well??" Asked Eggman impatiently.

Knuckles took a deep breath, coughing, then saying, "Amy..."

Amy's eyes went wide, fear obviously consuming her. She covered her mouth in shock. Water wasn't exactly her strongest suit.

She gulped, "The card please.." she squeaked out. The conveyor belt rotated the cards to Amy. Shaking, she picked it up, and read the cursed card.

"One minute inside the chamber instead of two." She said aloud, in disbelief. This was something she could accomplish. Her frown was suddenly replaced with a small smile. Her restraints unlocked, and a door in the glass tube opened.

"We believe in you, Amy!" Sonic said, pumping his fist as she walked inside the monster.

She smiled, hoping she'd be able to pull this off.

The glass door slammed shut. Vents from the floor began to open, gushing in water.

"The time begins once it hits half way on the glass chamber." Eggman quickly added, a small line indentation on it. A timer lit up ontop the line, signifying it'd had reached halfway already.

No one had anticipated the water to fill so rapidly. Amy, caught a little off guard began to struggle to keep her head above the water. Soon, no air was left, she took her last breath of air, and let herself be submerged. She squeezed her eyes shut.

"Only a minute..." she kept thinking.

Faint noises of encouragement from her friends quickly made their way to her. Suddenly she became very emotional. What if...? She kept thinking.

"GO AMY!"

"YOU GOT THIS!"

"ONLY A LITTLE BIT MORE!"

Amy could feel tears, but she knew non of them would see. Her lungs began to ache. Just like every other challenge, every second felt excruciatingly long.

She waited and waited

She was ready to give up.
