“Good night. Thank you for taking me home.” I can’t wait to get out of the car.

“Good night, too. Sleep well. I will dream of you.” Adrian pulled me back just as I was desperately trying to get out quickly. He leaned over, wanting to kiss me. I turned my head away. His lips lightly brushed my cheek. I thought I saw the curtain moved again in the upstairs window. Was Robert watching me?  I quickly ran from the car and ran into the house.

‘Of all the nights, he had to be home so early.’ I thought to myself. ‘Well better than Robert driving up in his car, reaching home and seeing Adrian’s car parked right in front of the house.’ I thought again and reminded myself to thank my lucky star.

Trying not to make any noise. I climbed up the stairs, like a thief in my own house. I opened the bedroom door cautiously. My prayers were answered: Robert was asleep. I sighed in relief. I looked at the curtains; it was swaying slightly to the rhythm of the fan. I quickly slip out of my clothes and changed to my nightie. I couldn’t wash without waking up Robert, so I just slipped into bed slowly. I didn’t even bother to lift the blanket to cover myself. I hoped that there wasn’t any smell of Adrian on me. Despite the worry, my eyes closed immediately. The sex must have really relaxed me. And just as I was going to sleep, an alarm went off. Did Adrian wear a condom? I was on contraceptive. I was not worried but I was worried on the hygiene since Adrian’s known for his womanizing ways.

The next morning, while getting ready for work, Robert asked, “What time you got home last night?”

“You have not been this late coming home before.” Robert added and looked at me as he waited for my answer.

“2 am. I wanted to come home early but I had to wait for Lina to give me a ride as Adria was on leave yesterday”

It was true that Adria was on leave. I looked at him straight in the face as I answered and I was surprised that I can be so natural although my heart was beating away wildly. It was the first time I had lied to my husband.

‘Not good for a pioneer considering that he has always been lying to me and I had always spotted his lie.’ I thought to myself gleefully.

For some reasons, I felt good that I had lied to Robert. I felt that since he is lying, why shouldn’t I be lying too. He should have a taste of his own medicine.

“Well, it’s my turn tonight. I will be home late. I won’t be able to pick you up. You find your way home tonight.” Robert jolted me out of my thoughts.

“OK.” I would have agreed to anything, as long Robert didn’t ask me about last night.

As soon as I arrived at the office, Lina was waiting for me at my desk.

“So how was last night? Where did you two go?”

I briefly told Lina that we just had a drink and some snacks and we were home by 10 pm.

Just then Adria walked in.

“Guess what? Adrian’s in a damn good mood. He didn’t even reprimand me for been late in handing in the revised brief for Q Oats.” Adria happily commented.

“Good Morning Girls. I am back.” Tailynn breezed in cheerfully.

“By the way, do you think it’s because I was away? Adrian actually said ‘Good Morning’ to me! I just bumped into him as I came up the stairs. He’s looking very cheerful. Usually he doesn’t even look at me,” Tailynn added.

We girls just shrugged our shoulders

“He must have scored with someone last night?” Adria suggested with a question.
