Halima lay on the hospital bed, huddled close to her siblings. They had just finished narrating their fathers' tale to her. The sorrow of losing their mother so cruelly, taking over once more. Halima and Fatima had assumed co-parenting roles, each taking turns to reassure their fifteen-year-old brothers. The twin teenagers had questions about finances and school, they even wondered where would they live, now that the police, would most likely take possession of their fathers estate.

"Halima and I have enough to put you through college," said Fatima stroking Khalifs silky hair.

"Scratch that, we have enough to even pay for your dowry!" Said Halima gently pinching the younger twin's cheek.

Khalid giggled. "So do we have to get a new house?"

"Yeah, my apartment can't house all four of us. Tonight though, I was hoping we can spend the night at dad's house so you two can pack up your stuff. Once the cops come, we don't know what will happen."

"That's an idea," said Halima. "Could you house Joe and Nika for the night too, instead of setting them up in a hotel?"

The door opened in that instance, Ryan sauntered in followed by his friends. "Salim wanted me to let you know that the car is ready. He is waiting outside." Said Ryan to Fatima who was already rising.

"Thanks, it's about time we called it a night." She turned to watch her twin. "If I haven't already said how glad I am to have you back, then I really am glad you are here with us." She bent to embrace her beaming sister.

"It's good to be back." Said Halima returning the hug.

"Goodnight sis," said the twins simultaneously.

"Goodnight boys!" She replied, pecking each on the cheek. "Joe, you guys should go with them. There is plenty of room at home, better than a hotel room."

"Sounds wonderful, but we also came to say goodbye." Said Nika pulling Joe closer to the bed as the siblings filed out of the room.

"Goodbye?" Asked Ryan, brow raised.

"Yeah, I have exhausted my vacation time,  in fact, I extended it with a week. I couldn't leave Ryan in his hour of need. Anyway, now that all is well, I have to rush back to Garviland. My parents are throwing me a huge ball in a month. I am expected to choose a suitor or they will choose one for me. I can't let that happen, especially since I already found the man of my dreams." She said throwing a not so subtle look at Joe who was staring at her wide-eyed.

"What?" Whispered Joe.

"After spending the last two weeks with you, I believe this can work. Please come with me to Garviland, we need more time together before I am required to announce my choice."

"Uhm, maybe we should discuss this later...alone?" He said throwing a side glance at his grinning best friend.

"Sure," she said turning to face Halima again. "You guys are all invited to the ball. Everyone, including that Salim guy. I will send you the details."

"Sure, we will be honored." Replied Halima returning the warm embrace the princess was encasing her in. The four said their last goodbyes and the couple exited.

Ryan gently closed the door, locked it and ambled closer to the bed. They were finally alone. He had kept his distance since she awoke, giving her siblings time to enjoy her presence. Now, however, all he wanted to do was scoop her in his arms and never let go. He sat on the bed, a broad smile lighting his features. He lifted his hand to caress her bruised cheek. The bruises were healing well, her face clearer now. He brushed his thumb over her lips. He so badly wanted to kiss her. She licked her lips, the simple action sending shivers through him. He leaned forward, eyes closed, his lips, however, landed on her purplish cheek.
