Halima careened over the toilet bowl and hurled the remainder of her breakfast. A hiss from behind the door told her that she had an audience. She proceeded to obey the gag reflex and after several minutes, her stomach was feeling much better. She gently picked herself up, flashed the toilet and leaned over the sink bowl to rinse her mouth.

"Babe, you okay?" Ryan asked from behind the door where he had been listening intently.

She rolled her eyes, but was still unable to keep a proud grin from forming, she sauntered to the door and pulled it open. The concern on his face warmed her on the inside.

"Yeah babe, am okay."

"Isn't your morning sickness supposed to be gone by now?"

"Yeah, I thought so too but, looks like I have a while before it completely lets up." She moved closer and leaned into him.

"Am starting to rethink this trip. Am sure Joe and Nika will understand if we canceled for medical reasons." He wrapped her in his arms.

Halima giggled silently, looking up into his eyes. "Where is the doctor who never turns away from a challenge? Baby, you know how much I love you. I am so appreciative of all your support these past months. You, however, have become a worrywart."

"What?" His brows knitted together, confusion riddling him.

Halima's chuckles intensified. "Don't get me wrong, I love how you check up on me every half hour, makes me feel like royalty. However, there is no way am missing a royal engagement ball because my morning sickness hasn't let up!" Her lips curved, forming a bright smile.

"Okay, I guess you are right. But you tell me the moment something seems off."

"Of course! Now, has the car arrived yet? We must be..." She was cut off by loud footsteps spattering across the hallway. Letting go of each other, they followed the noise. Khalid was running up the stairs, Fatima following closely behind. He sprinted past them to his bedroom at the far end of the hallway. Fatima did the same, barely acknowledging her twin. Before she got to Khalid's door, the teenager had slammed it shut. Fatima banged furiously against it.

"Khalid! Fungua huu mlango!" (Open this door) she bellowed.

"Wachana na Mimi!" (Leave me alone!)" Came Khalid's voice through the door.

Halima and Ryan hastily joined Fatima. "What's the problem? What did he do now?" She asked.

Fatima exhaled, bringing her index fingers to her temples, she rubbed gently. "I found him smoking in the garage...Weed!" She stretched out her right palm to reveal a white roll of the substance.

Rage rose within Halima, she turned to the mahogany door and started pounding on it, mirroring her twins' previous stance."Open this door!"

"Yeah, good luck with that!" Said Khalid.

The taunt in his voice caused her ire to burn with intensity. Before she could lunge at the towering door, Ryan's hands sneaked around her waist and pulled her behind. "Calm down before you break something! And I don't mean the door." He turned her around, placed his hands on her shoulders, rooting her in place.

"Babe, you don't understand, that boy has been unbearable! Dad's trial pushed him over the edge and he's been acting out. I can't...I don't know what to do anymore." She said glaring into his eyes.

"Calm down, that kind of strain isn't good for you. And I understand, I've been here for some of it but you filled me on the rest. What if I try talking to him? He might see sense if someone other than a sibling intervenes" he said watching her bob her head slowly. He pulled her in for a hug and only let go after she calmed down. "I'm going to get something to unscrew that bolt, I don't think he's letting anyone in soon." He placed a light kiss on her forehead and paced down the stairs to the garage.
