Thanks to a closed staircase, Ryan had to take the ever overflowing elevators, with Nika and Simon hot on his heels. Five minutes dragged on endlessly as it stopped on every floor. Finally, it came to a halt on Halima's floor. Resisting the urge to elbow his way through the group of strolling hospital personnel, he patiently ambled his way through them.

As he approached the waiting area outside Halima's room, he spotted Fatima hugging two young men. She was rubbing her arms gently on each of their backs in a consoling motion. Salim walked up to her and joined the group hug, a solemn look on his face. Ryan knowing the cause for the troubled mood directed his steps towards Halima's room.

Joe, surrounded by three nurses were hovering over her sleeping form. Ryan pushed the door open. "She's brain dead!" Joe was saying.

"What?" Asked Ryan. The four turned to see him standing by the open door.

Joe walked closer to him."Am sorry Ryan, the doctor on call was just pulled into surgery. No one else was near when she started crashing. I had to step in." He said placing a hand on his friend's shoulder for comfort.

"Do not let your heart be troubled."  John 14:1 sprung into his mind, filling him with hope. Instead of panic and worry at the grim situation, the familiar warmth filled him again encasing him with joy at the reassurance that he wasn't alone, not now and never again.  John 14:12 I tell you the truth, anyone who has faith in me will do what I have been doing. He will do even greater things than these, because I am going to the father. And I will do whatever you ask in my name, so that the son may bring glory to the father. You may ask me for anything in my name, and I will do it. Those verses sang like a promise. With a new drive, he ushered Joe and the nurses out of the room, requesting some alone time.

The rush within him was uncontrollable as he moved to Halima's side. Taking her injured arm, he cupped it in his and bowed down.

"Mark 11:24 says, therefore, I tell you, whatever you ask for in prayer, believe that you have received and it will be yours..."  He started. "Father in heaven you have promised that if I have faith and don't doubt, I will receive whatever I ask in prayer Mathew 21:21. Now Father God just like you raised Lazurus from the dead after four whole days in the tomb John 11, I ask you to breathe life into Halima and our child right now in Jesus name. Just like you raised the widow's son in Nain, Luke 7:11, I ask you to breathe life into Halima and our child right now in Jesus name..." He continued quoting scripture, head bent low, not daring to stop hence denying any ounce of doubt from creeping in.

Joe, Nika, and Simon watched through the window. "What's he doing?" Nika asked.

"He's praying," came Simon's deep voice from behind them. The pair of them startled at the presence of the stranger. Before either could react, he moved to the door, pushed it open and sauntered in. Whether Ryan heard him or not couldn't be determined since he continued mumbling prayers head bent low. Simon was soon within earshot, he heard Ryan repeat over and over again about Lazarus and the widows' son. "Jairus daughter," he said, "Luke 8:40, Jesus raised Jairus daughter. Just like you gave life back to her, Father God, we ask you to give life back to our sister here." He continued, joining Ryan who now was praying silently.

A couple of minutes of uninterrupted prayer raged on. The two men joining their hands together with Halima's.

Joe, Nika, Fatima, the twin brothers, and Salim all now stood at the open doorway watching silently.

A chocked sound filled the air. Halima's eyes snapped open as she tried to sit up gushing for air. Gasps filled the room as Ryan whose head was no longer bent reached out to remove the oxygen mask from her face. She breathed in deep, once the pump had been disconnected. "Water!" She croaked. Simon reached by the bedside and uncapped a plastic bottle. He gave it to Ryan who proceeded to feed her the drink. Once she'd had enough, he set it aside and gently leaned her back down.

"Halima..." Said Ryan.

"Hey... Wh-what ha-happened?" She asked scanning the room. Her eyes moving from one face to another. The shock registered on her loved ones serving to confuse her more. "Why are you guys looking at me like that?" She whispered eyes following Joe who had detached himself from the onlookers. He sauntered to the line of machines that had been monitoring her progress and with wide eyes read through them all. The scientist in him clearly having a hard time comprehending the situation. After a few silent moments, he turned to the audience that eagerly awaited his diagnosis. "I can't explain it!" He started, "she's fine, everything looks normal! The swelling of the brain is gone, everything reads... normal!" He finished eyes landing on his best friend whose wide grin told it all. "It's a miracle!" Concluded Joe.

Fatima didn't need any more explanations, she pushed her way through and hurled herself onto Halima who received the hug all too eagerly. Her brothers were by her side in an instant, hugging and crying over her as she continued to ask for an explanation. "You were in an accident," said Khalid finally. "You were brain dead, till Ryan and that other man, came in to pray for you." He said slowly letting his sister catch up.

Halima closed her eyes, eyebrows knitting together as if in pain as the accident flashed through her mind. A hand squeezed hers, she gently opened them to find herself staring into a pair of familiar hazel eyes. "It's all over babe," Ryan said. "God brought you back to me," he continued. "Now we can be together, the right way." He smiled. She smiled back at him only half understanding his meaning.

So I only have one question, do you guys believe in healing? Do you believe that God heals even in our current generation?

This chapter was meant to provoke you to find out more about healing. There is a lot of hypocrisy out there, but there are also genuine miracles.

The first time I experienced healing was with my younger son. It's quite a long story but I will just say that since I didn't know what to say, I reminded Jesus of some of the people he healed in the Bible. Just like Ryan did here... Even in my amateur state, God healed my son. I will write more about this and others in my book "Sharing Christ", do check it out. The chapter is ready.

Finally, Halima's back! Gee, how will she react when she learns of her pregnant state?

See you guys on Monday!

Thank you for reading.

God bless.

June.😘
