Yellow police tape circled the lake completely, cameras went off every three seconds each with a different setting and a different angle.
Its been two hours since the body floated up, and I wasn't any less traumatized. I could still see her lifeless eyes staring back at me, her face looked like it was permanently frozen in a scream for help.
I was quick to get out of the water but my phone was completely drenched from me falling into the lake, so I had to find my way back to Stonehaven and barrow someones phone.
I was uncomfortable, my pants were still soggy and half of my shirt is soaking wet, every step I took I heard a sloshing noise, reminding me that my socks were full of water too.
"Tell me again why you were out here?" The sheriff asked for what felt like the fifth time, "I already told you, I was on the tour and the lady mentioned a lake, I wanted to check it out".
I thought about telling them about Mr. Park but I knew that seeing someone drowning and not doing anything, you could be charged with a misdemeanor. Even if you were only 8 when it happened.
"And how did you find the body?" Another pointless question asked yet again by the sheriff, "I saw bubbles, and it smelled horrible, I moved towards it and when I saw what it was I got out of the water and went back to the house to call".
Explaining myself was pointless, any idiot off the side of the road could tell that this woman has been dead for years, if all the decomposed flesh and fish bites had anything to say.
The creepy part about it is that, she looked just like Mina, or well how Mr. Park discribed her. Complete with the long rabid hair and nails, only she looked more rotted than he said.
It was a few more minutes and a thousand more questions before they finally released me and let me go home, well it was almost time to go to work.
For the first time in my life, I wanted to face Mr. Park and I had some personal questions that I want him to answer. I didn't almost get decomposed flesh in my mouth for nothing.
The walk back to my car was tiresome and it was my third time walking it so you can understand how badly my feet were aching. Right outside the house, the tour guide, Elena Michelson, was getting questioned. She glared slightly at me, I guess she was hoping for a quiet day only to have this sprung on her.
I hopped into my car and drove home to change quickly before basically speeding to get to work on time, so I don't get in trouble. That didn't work of course.
I was pretty sure I looked like a mess when I walked through that door and I smelled the lingering smell of the lake on my skin, but I was hoping no one would notice.
"We all thought you quit Ms. Jones, you're usually very punctual" Mr. Min said before throwing me a smile, "I'm sorry Yoongi, it wont happen again".
I practically ran to Mr. Parks room, only stopping once to help Ms. Black pick up two dropped bags of baby carrots, "I swear this boy lives off carrots Ms. Jones" Jennifer said with a chuckle.
We walked together towards our own patients before splitting off, "Nice to see you again Jennifer" I heard and I glanced back at Ms. Black as she opened the door without feeding him carrots. "Hello Jungkook how are you today?"
First name basis, well done Jennifer.
I opened Mr. Parks door and instantly his head snapped to me. "You were at the lake" he said and I froze in the doorway, he was the only one to notice.
"How-" I started to ask but he brushed me off with a simple look, "I can smell her on you Alyson" he said and I nearly choked on air at the sound of my name. "Its Ms. Jones to you".
I handed him his medicine before sitting on my chair, "Since you already know I went to the lake, why don't you explain everything" I said and he looked down before looking at me, almost hiding behind his too long bangs.
"You saw her didn't you, you saw Mina" he said and I twitched slightly in my seat as the mental image of her body floated back into my mind, no pun intended. "I saw her body, yes, well I saw a woman who looks like you described in the lake".
I wasn't ready to admit that, Mina could have been a real girl, with real twins, a real person. Who is really dead, and is really haunting my patient.
"No you saw Mina" he chuckled and shook his head, before looking at me with crazy eyes. "Did you scream when you saw her?" He asked as he inched closer.
"No, I didn't scream"
I did scream, I did really loudly and quite pathetically but he doesn't need to know that.
"Liar"
The word was whispered so quietly that I almost didn't hear it, it echoed off the walls and shot itself towards me like a bullet. It sounded like it came from everywhere but at the same time, nowhere.
I know that he said it though, I saw his lips move. I refuse to show him that the one word he whispered held truth to it.
"Take your pills Mr. Park" I said and he placed all three of them in his mouth before I took out a bottle of water and took a sip, to moisten my dry mouth.
Only to have him lurch forward and connect our mouths, the impact from his lips opening mine, effectively causing the water to run out of my mouth and into his.
Using that water, he swallowed the pills easier than usual, before pulling away. "Mmmmmm taste good, best medication I've ever taken" he hummed out while smirking at me.
My hand shot up to my mouth, horrified and shocked that he had kissed me and pulled away without me even reacting, only I could still feel his lips even if it was only for a second.
"And its Jimin to you"
Even though I had water in my mouth before, my mouth was still dry.
Maybe even dryer.
Jimin what are you doing to me?
