In shock you froze for a few seconds. You couldn't kill someone. Especially not if you knew him. And when he was a friend. Besides, most of your other friends were watching and if you would have had the guts to do as you were told, they would have gone after you. So you lowered your wand.

"No" you said "I won't kill anyone. Not one of my friends. You will have to kill me instead"

"Why do you refuse me now?"

"I never really was with you. I defied you wherever I could. When Harry and his friends were at Malfoy Manor I let them escape. Afterwards I made sure the Weasleys go into hiding so that they're safe. And in the battle I never had the intention to find Harry for you. I only wanted your permission to fight your minions" you took a deep breath "My true allegiance was always with my friends. You are responsible for the death of my parents and my Godfather. Give me one reason why I should really join you" he took a step forward.

"Silly girl. I will kill you and then everyone close to you. In the first instance your boyfriend whom you tried to protect so heroic. And yet you will have failed in the end" you knew that George would be clever enough to avoid the Dark Lord and his followers.

"Well first you will have to stop talking and kill me" he almost smiled and then raised his wand. But he didn't get as far as casting a curse since a loud noise distracted him. All of a sudden a giant walked towards the army of He, who must not be named and started a fight with some of the giants that were allied with him. Centaurs arrived from the Forbidden Forrest and started fighting as well. You used this distraction to grab Neville's sleeve and pull him away. When You-know-who reacted it was too late and more fighters arrived. George ran towards you and grabbed your hand. At this moment you hoped he'd never let go of you. In the past months you had worried about him too much. So now you just wanted to be near him and really protect him if necessary. Not that you hoped this would be the case but it could happen since Death Eaters as well as some of your allies entered Hogwarts and the fight was dragged to the Great Hall.

Now you really had a problem since most of the Death Eaters tried to kill you or George. But luckily there were always others around you to protect you because you couldn't have dealt with all of them on your own. Suddenly all attention was drawn to two fights. One between Molly and Bellatrix, the other between the Dark Lord and three opponents at once. Even other Death Eaters were watching, although most of them were already defeated. To be honest you were quite glad that they didn't try to attack you now so that you had a break. Molly killed the dark witch and you cried out in joy, whereas You-know-who got angry. Extremely angry. He flung his enemies away and stepped towards the mother of seven children. You gulped and tried to jump between them but someone else was quicker. It turned out to be Harry and the crowd cheered to see him. Also you were more than glad to learn he was still alive.

"No go away, I have to do it myself. It has to be that way" Harry told you when others tried to help him defeat his arch-enemy. For a couple of minutes the boy explained him why the Dark Lord never stood a chance to kill him. He concluded that he also couldn't do it now because Harry was the real master of the Elder wand, the wand He, who must not be named was using on that day. Of course he wouldn't believe it and instantly cast a killing cure. Harry on the other hand tried to disarm him. The two spells met in the middle and you grabbed George's hand tighter hoping Harry was right. Then the killing curse rebounded and killed the caster. In this moment the Elder wand flew into Harry's outstretched hand, his opponent fell to the ground, dead for once and for all. At first it was silent in the hall then hell broke loose. Everyone was cheering and most wanted to go and touch the boy who lived and killed the Dark Lord. You couldn't believe that you were free now and that everyone you loved was safe. When you turned around to hug George, he took the lead and wrapped his arms around you and kissed you passionately. It remembered you a little of the time when you had stormed onto the Quidditch pitch in your fifth year just after Gryffindor had won the Quidditch cup. The atmosphere was the same and you kind of felt the same way.
